At first I thought people on here were being a bit harsh the logo is ok and the page is ok as well if a bit basic, but just looking at the other pages and seeing that its taken two months you have got to wonder what they have been doing. There isn't even any content to justify the time spent on it. to be honest i would always recommend frequent updates, design drafts etc to make sure you know exactly what you are getting for your money otherwise you are in danger of getting ripped off like this.
just my thoughts.

Your friend has paid $500 for that? Wow, he's crazy, and if he can't see that the design is bad he needs a slap.

Talk over these aspects of the website with your friend,
Logo - it needs to look great, and be memorable for the right reasons, at the moment it looks absolutely horrid and will be remembered for the wrong reasons.
Overall Design - The design is very messy, unorganized and cluttered (IMO) it's very basic, and looks ugly.
SEO - The website uses bad SEO, <h1></h1> tags are the main header tags which search engines look for, this should feature your website name instead of content about being a member.
PHP - The PHP is unsecure, I noticed that he is using ?page=7, I've never seen PHP on a live website like this in my life, it's so unsafe! He should have at least used .htaccess to rewrite it to http://website.com/about or something along those lines.
Time Scale - It's took 2 months+ to create a very basic website like that, that doesn't even have content in place? I could create that website in a day, with content, for half the price what he is asking.
Finally, price - he's asking for a ridiculous amount for a very very basic website.

Its WordPress. It would take 10 secs to change in the admin menu.

Cufon! Ha, whoever paid for this piece of urine got ripped off. Have they ever head of semantics, or css rather than background images?

I can't stand rip off developers, they give proper web devs a bad name.

620 business cards
brochure
and whatever website he did till now and you guys saw

I didn't realise it was wordpress, I don't see why people still use that script.

Truly baffled! I'm lost for words!

If you don't know what you're talking about, don't pretend like you do, because it's just plain bad advice.

I know it's not strictly insecure, it's just I hate seeing having URLs such as '?id=1' I just feel they should be masked a bit more, and, I kind of have OCD when it comes to the way URLs look. I guess I should have reread my post, and maybe thought about my exaggeration there. For this, I can only apologize!

Sorry, I don't work with Wordpress, nor do I know how to find out if a website is ran by wordpress. Apologies if this upset you in any way, it's just a system that has never interested me and never will. Oh, and seen as though I didn't see a 'Ran by Wordpress' footer, I thought it was a script coded by the developer.

As for 'insecure', thanks for correcting my typo.

It wasn't about 'knowing whether the site runs WP', it was 'I dunno why people still use WP'... in fact version 3.3 alone has been downloaded about 8,000,000 times, and can be used to create some beautiful [free] websites.

It's seriously evolved from 'just another blog script'... you should install it some time and have a mess around with it!

In combination with Thesis, it can be quite the 'website builder'!

I see, I'll have a look at it some time and my opinion on Wordpress might change.
