Cops thought the boy was so wasted as he "staggered" about that he was taken to hospital.

Tests revealed he was more than twice the legal drink-drive limit and was later taken into care.

He no longer sees his mum who was prosecuted and pleaded guilty to child cruelty.

Hull Crown Court heard how she had been spotted arguing and swapping drinks with her son by witness Rachel Bibby in the city.

Prosecutor Stephen Robinson read a statement from her in which she said: "The boy was staggering around all over the place and was almost unable to stand up of his own accord.

"He was waving his arms in the air and fell onto the floor at one stage."

The boozed-up boy appeared to be drinking flavoured vodka and at one point fell off a red toy fire engine he was trying to sit on.

She added: "I saw him having an argument with his mother as she wanted the bottle of alcohol, but he refused to give it to her and continued drinking from it."

The mum then went into a convenience store and came out with a can of Foster's lager.

Ms Bibby went on: "She then went straight up to her son and asked him if he would swap the bottle for the can.

"She took the bottle off the lad, opened the can of lager and gave it to her son.

"He had a mouthful, decided he didn't want it and began to shake the liquid in his mum's face.

"She shouted at him, grabbed him by the shoulder and poured the remaining lager over his head."

She called the police because she feared for the boy's safety.

She added: "Unfortunately, I made eye contact with her whilst on the telephone and I heard the female clearly state in my direction 'we always get drunk together and he always acts like this'."

"I am amazed at what I saw."

At hospital he was found to have an alcohol reading of 187mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.

Paul Genney, defending, said his client, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had "her fair share of problems".

He said: "She has had a wretched life."

Recorder Neil Clark gave the woman a 12-month community and supervision order designed to help her overcome her problems.

Is it just me or is that article HORRIBLY written?. They repeatedly refer to both the witness and the mother simply as "she", so it makes it very VERY difficult to tell who said or did what.

Agreed...

Just an unreal story though too. Some people have no business having children.

So horribly written I actually had to click the source link to check that out. Usually don't do that.

Yes, I did. Did you?

I read this in the source, which would tend to indicate that she has lost custody...at least, for awhile.

She was given a 12-month supervision order.

Neighbours in Hull said the woman lived alone after her son had been taken into care. One added: "When we see her, she's always drunk."

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?
