I have never understood the point of these, do they provide the action of smoking but only some tobacco intake via the vaporisation?

It gives you the nicotine for your addiction and the act of smoking or simulated smoking which can be just as important for people trying to quit.

Yeah I didnt word that very well, I know the habit is half the battle hence why a lot of people quitting turn to eating in lieu of when they would have smoked but I was more wondering how the vaporisation works but you seem to confirm it gives them the nicotine hit im assuming via vaporatisation is more healthy as well?

The liquid is a combination or nicotine and various additives depending on the brand. The devices vaporize the nicotine often trying to mimic smoke. As far as safety thats still up in the air from what I can tell. The FDA has not approved them yet, but based on the ingredients some of them seem safe. Ideally it would be a cancer free nicotine fix.

In terms of health, it's probably better to think of them as less harmful rather than more healthy. Studies have shown them to be about 98% less harmful, but since they are still new there are no good long term studies. I personally only recommend them to people who are having a hard time quitting smoking using other methods, and I would never recommend them to a non-smoker for recreational use.

The e-juice (as it's generally called) is essentially made up of ingredients that have already been FDA approved, and there are usually less than a dozen chemicals in the solution. I won't go into the rhetoric about how the FDA is in the pocket of Big Pharma and is trying to destroy the e-cigarette industry because I left my tinfoil hat at the office. :D However, they did try to shut down the imports to the U.S. back in 2009 based on claims that were proven to be false, and there are many who believe that they're still trying to ban it.

I tend to take all the news I hear on the subject with a grain of salt and just listen to what my body has been telling me for the past 6 months.

I give 6 ? a day to L&M and i've been thinking of guitting alot lately. I've been smoking for 15+ years so I'm guite addicted to it, 2 hours without smoking is guite a struggle.

I think I should try these.

If you (or anyone else) is serious about trying e-cigarettes to quit smoking, I definitely recommend doing some research before purchasing anything. There are a great many vendors who will sell you cheap devices at a huge markup, and if you have a really bad initial experience, you might dismiss them too easily. Avoid gas station and mall kiosk kits with pre-filled carts at inflated prices and piece together a good setup from a trusted online vendor or a specialized brick and mortar store, if you're fortunate enough to have a physical store in your area.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... E-Cigarette Forum is probably your best resource to get the information you need and ask questions on this subject. The user base there is extremely friendly and very helpful.

My wife and I ended up purchasing some Green Smoke e-cigarettes. She did some research on top of what I had done and thought they would be worth the money. The up front cost was around 120 I think, it came with three e-cigarettes and one USB e-cigarette that you can plug into a car. So far (about a week now) its been good. I havent missed real cigarettes. I recomend getting some type of multi flavor pack to start the flavors for this brand are pretty mild overall. I dont really like the "cigarette" flavors but menthol has a mellow minty taste.

I wonder how could I make an e-hookah? I guess the easiest way would be to just stick an e-cig on the end of one of the tubes. So that you would just be vaping as normal but with a hookah attached for aesthetics.

I know it may sound strange to some, but I think it would look cool. An e-hookah in my apartment would really tie the room together.

Any ideas on how to make one?

I hope you and your wife are successful at giving up smoking and that you both enjoy vaping as much as I do! :D

I wouldn't even know where to begin, but I'm sure if you do a Google search you'll find some information. You'll just need to weed through links for an e-cig brand called "e-hookah" to get to some good information on the subject.

    • "...but it may not be Microsoft's fault" seems like a reasonable way to tease what is going on without leaving the user with a false impression that an update is the problem. A title isn't a summery, it is meant to entice the user to read the article. It should not contain a misleading premise; which this title does not. You could maybe complain that the first paragraph should have included that detail. The writing style popularized over 100 years ago in newspapers will cover the most important information as soon as possible with details and nuance added later; the idea being that with each new paragraph you have less of the reader's focus.
    • Samsung Galaxy XR arrives in the UK with new AI and enterprise features by Fiza Ali Samsung is bringing its Galaxy XR headset to the UK several months after the device made its debut as the first headset built on Google's Android XR platform. The headset was first teased in late 2024 alongside Google's introduction of Android XR before making its commercial debut in 2025. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, Galaxy XR combines mixed reality experiences with Gemini-powered AI features, allowing users to interact with digital content using voice, gestures, and visual inputs. While the hardware itself remains largely unchanged from the version Samsung unveiled last year, the company is using the UK launch to spotlight several software enhancements that have arrived through recent updates. Among the most notable additions is deeper integration with Google's ecosystem. Galaxy XR users can explore destinations through Google Maps' Immersive View, receiving AI-powered recommendations and contextual information from Gemini while navigating virtual environments. Furthermore, entertainment experiences have also expanded; users can watch 180-degree and 360-degree videos on YouTube, browse spatial content converted into 3D, and ask Gemini questions about on-screen content without interrupting playback. Samsung is also highlighting mixed-reality features such as Circle to Search, which allows users to identify real-world objects through hand gestures while using the headset's video pass-through mode. Another feature automatically converts photos and videos into spatial 3D experiences. Moreover, the headset now also supports Android Enterprise, allowing organisations to manage deployments using existing Android management tools. Annika Bizon, Vice President, Product and Marketing, Mobile Experience, Samsung UK & Ireland, talked about the device, stating: The headset is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform and features dual 4K Micro-OLED displays. The tech giant says that users can expect up to 2.5 hours of battery life. Samsung also confirmed that Galaxy XR will continue receiving software and security updates as the company works alongside Google and Qualcomm to expand the Android XR ecosystem. Galaxy XR is now available for pre-order and will go on sale on 8 July. Customers interested in trying the headset before launch can visit Samsung KX in London and selected Samsung Experience Stores from 17 June. Finally, the company will also host a livestream on 19 June showcasing the headset's capabilities and answering questions from prospective customers.
