NetherRealm's portable fighting game coming to Sony's portable in North America in just over a month; European launch on for May 4.

Touch-screen fatalities will become reality this May. Mortal Kombat for the PlayStation Vita will launch in North America on May 1, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed. A European release is slated for May 4.

Previously, Mortal Kombat for the PS Vita was expected to arrive sometime this spring. Created specifically for Sony's new portable, the game sports a new Challenge Tower mode with 150 missions. Additionally, the game makes use of the PS Vita's touch screen by enabling players to swipe a finger across the screen to perform a fatality.

Mortal Kombat for the PS Vita will be the second entry in the popular fighting series to hit shelves in as many years. Last April, NetherRealm shipped the Mortal Kombat reboot to a warm critical reception and sales of over 3 million.

I find it funny that they call it "warm" critical receptions. 8.5 of 10 is pretty amazing. a must buy.

wonder what touch screen fatalities will be like.

Good point. Isn't "warm" a word you use when something isn't entirely crap, but not entirely amazing either?

Given the way games are rated, who knows?
