GTA V debuting this October

Recommended Posts

When will gamers get their hands on the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto V? If a Rockstar North animator's resume proves accurate (via Joystiq), the open-world action game is being readied to ship for this October.

The Rockstar North employee's resume has since been yanked, and as of press time, Rockstar had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.

Last month, Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia said GTAV was "likely" to ship during March 2013. Launching in this window, he said, would be advantageous, as it would be far from new installments in the Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty franchises.

If GTAV does ship this October, it will do so alongside another big-name Take-Two property in BioShock: Infinite, which is scheduled to release on October 16. Additionally, if GTAV arrives in 2012, it will mark a departure from Rockstar's trend of releasing more than one title in the span of a year. Max Payne 3 is due out next month.

During a question-and-answer session that followed speciality retailer GameStop's latest financial earnings report, company president Tony Bartel said the firm is not expecting GTAV in 2012.

As for GTAV, Rockstar revealed the game in October 2011, but no mention has yet been made concerning a launch window or platform(s) for the title. In February, the developer said details regarding the game are months away.

Rockstar has provided brief glimpses at GTAV thus far. The game will be set primarily in present-day Los Santos, a fictional town modeled on Los Angeles. Rockstar has also said that GTAV boasts the largest scope of any installment in the franchise to date.

Wishful thinking, I want it this year but I don't think for a second that Rockstar are going to release two big blockbuster games in the same year.

If by some miracle it does get an October release date expect an announcement in late September saying it has been delayed till May the following year.

I just hope we get some "gameplay" footage at e3 this year.

    • Salesforce to acquire Fin, formerly Intercom, for over $3 billion by David Uzondu Image via DepositPhotos.com Salesforce today announced that it has reached an agreement with customer support software company Fin to buy the company for around $3.6 billion. Salesforce expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2027, and the acquisition will not change its financial guidance previously announced on May 27. Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, in its press release, claimed that acquiring the startup gives Salesforce an immediate AI agent that resolves support tickets across email, WhatsApp, SMS, and Slack: You might know Fin by its former name, Intercom. If you have ever been on a website or inside a mobile app and noticed a little chat bubble widget floating in the bottom right corner of your screen, often featuring a friendly face and a message like, "Hi! How can we help you today?" you were almost certainly looking at Intercom. Intercom became Fin just last month, transforming itself into an "AI-first" platform that handles customer issues with little need for humans to intervene. The new name originates from the company's highly successful AI customer service agent, which it launched way back in 2023. This digital assistant supposedly resolves about 76% of customer service volume end-to-end on its own, so the business rebranded to match its primary software tool. Fin's new owners, Salesforce, went on an acquisition spree over the last few years, and some of them you might recognize, like its 2020 $27.7 Billion acquisition of Slack. The last few months saw the enterprise giant buy several startups, including m3ter, Momentum, Cimulate, and Contentful. Salesforce said that when the Fin deal pulls through, customers will "deploy AI agents across" various service operations, which will complement Agentforce, the platform that enables businesses to deploy customizable autonomous digital workers.
