I don't think it's too evil that a company's founders want to keep in control, especially considering other stories. Ebaums World was bought out and fired Ebaum, Cisco fired it's two co-founders, events like that. They worked hard to build that company.

You don't HAVE to give Google or any other company your personal information to use their products, Google has exactly as much of my private information as I CHOSE to give them which was barely nothing, as a matter of fact I could give you my real first and last name and you won't find anything other than my practically dead FB page, nothing else, all you and Google know about me is what City I live in and not much else, and it's not hard to do, and yet all these free services work just fine for me

Google Analytics, Facebook like button, countless other tracking bugs on every website. They all know something about you just by surfing random websites, even if you don't even use their services. That's why a lot of people get their knickers in a twist about tracking, it's hard to opt out unless you don't use the internet and they don't ask you to opt in.

This is not about being evil for the founders to want to keep control, it's about being evil for want to keep control without being the majority owner of the company.

They are minority shaerholders but majotrity owner of the voting shares and they want to keep it that way. They want to keep control without taking the ownership risk. Evil or not this is a smart move. For current shareholders, the remedy is sell stocks now, put the money in high correlation asset then wait after the spilt and buy back double number of shares fo the old class A stock. In a sense, split the stock manually yourself and double the voting shares ownership.

Another day, another Google smearing article. The propaganda peddlers are out in force. It's not associated with ICOMP is it by any chance?

This pretty much sums it up. C'mon people if you don't like Google don't use their products and don't invest in their stock, but stop posting useless propaganda and hate campaigns.

Please don't kill me. I'm sorry for spreading the factual propaganda. Microsft was paying me to do it.

I have taken my money out of Google, and invested it in Stardocks. Hate campaign ended.

"You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Any sufficiently large company becomes evil eventually, it's how capitalism works. I implore you to name a single top-100 company that couldn't be described as evil. To think that any successful company is looking out for anyone but themselves is naive.

Some companies are more idealistic than others, and personally I find Google's transparency and desire to push the web forward inspiring, but let's not trick ourselves into thinking that their ideals are less important than their profit margin

Have you watched The Social Network? If Google is evil, Zuckerberg and CO are the anti-christ.

If you take " the social network " story as truth and fact, than sir you should stop living under rock. It is as true as "pirates of silicon valley", fake.

the biggest problem with google is that even I DON'T WANT TO USE the services they offer I cannot fully opt-out... you're always under their umbrella somehow, like that useless StreetView? it's pretty nonsensical that i'm providing content for a service I not use, to a company i'm all about to boycott

and it's the same story with all their products and services... lucky that G+ and GTV is where it should be: draining down the sink

haha yep. i use plenty of google products. i hate to say i love google.

Nope!

Don't have a single Google product anywhere and don't even have Google saved in my favorites/bookmarks search engine folder, of which there are currently 18 different one's saved!

Google has and always will suck a**!! IMO

I love going against what you all think is so cool and great!! ;)

It is quite dramatized, but the lawsuits shown in the movie are real.

It is one sided story, nobody knew what really happened, lawsuits are indeed real, but what happened in their personal life, only they know.

I'm about to drop Google in its entirety too.

Bing isnt as good as Google when it comes to search results in Holland.

But today i found out that Streetview is not supported in IE10 anymore, while it has always worked properly. I'm sick and tired of Google abusing its position to battle Microsoft over the backs of their users!

I know MS launched the Scroogled campaign, but they arent bugging me with it. Google is, no proper support from them to WP, they seem to counter everything they can. Which is quite frankly just getting anoying.

I used Google for search and maps mainly. Guess I'm making the move to Microsoft today, and I do hope many follow to leave Google.

Hopefully they will start realizing that pushing away the people that made them big isnt the best thing to do! Respect your users Google or bite me!

They forget the only thing that made Google big, is us techies. Not marketing, nothing else.

We (your users) made you big and mighty, we (your users) can take it away from you!

EDIT: actually just tried google maps in Ironware and no surprise, it works a dozen times better and smoother then maps ever did on IE. Way to go Google... jeez. Your constant abusing of your market position will be your end, I do hope the EU and US will put you in a similar decade long anti-trust as Microsoft has gone through. I'm sick and tired of this game Google plays... Its only making it worse for us consumers/users.

I will actively promote people to use other services then Google's, in a last attempt to make Google realize they should stick to the values they started with over a decade ago. And that its not all about money and market-size.

Known issues with IE10 and Street View....

Works fine for me.

Why did you resurrect a year old thread to rant about the fact that IE doesn't load Google maps properly?

Are you sure the problem you're having isn't an issue with your Flash installation, rather than Google maliciously blocking IE10? Streetview uses Flash.

I posed links above. Street View works 100 percent for me in IE10. Know issues with this dating back several months.

Last reply before me was 15th of April, which is fairly recent and I didnt really bother checking other post dates.

Flash works fine, no issues on any site besides Google maps and its Street View function.

Street View worked fine last week (maybe 2 weeks ago) last time i used it. Nothing has changed on my system since besides the install of RA2 Yuri's Revenge. Doubt this causes the issue.

    • Isn’t it so sweet Microsoft after so many years of neglect, they admit to these issues in Windows lately? Doesn’t this just make you wanna run out and meet them halfway to give them a warm hug only? Just gives us this warm fuzzy feeling thinking about it. /s
