We're ranked 2. in the world who drink the most alcohol! F*ck Yeah! (Oh and as it turns out, ranked 5th with the most deaths from drugs(in Europe). Keep in mind our population is just 1.3million) /s

Actually at the moment theres nothing to be proud of except the most beautiful women on earth.

Really? Germany has such a rich and varied history. I've always figured I'd be very proud to be German...

I'm from a generation which was raised to be vary of patriotism. Ok, there may be one or two reasons to be proud of this country's heritage, I'll give you that - 'Land der Dichter und Denker' springs to mind.

Understandable. Patriotism can be used as a tool by those with nefarious intentions. If people rally behind something good, corrupt that "something good" to bring power to your agenda.

The US is doing absolutely the same at the minute. Blaming their woes on a demographic, all the time waving the flag of patriotism.

But such issues are a small blot on Germanic history - a once proud nation and rightly so.

I kinda am proud of my heritage, but I don't let that define me.

I am not so proud to be an american but at least it's better then the middle east or africa...

I had a German tutor at Uni and you could tell he was proud of Germany. He was keen to stress how progressive Weimar Germany was, cinema, art, literature etc. I dont think what came after should mean everything good should be dismissed.

I am proud of Australia (my birth country) because we have such a beautiful country, some pretty nice people, we're a very rich country and have a very high standard of living.

As for Austria (my living country) this is another beautiful country full of amazing history, we have a bad ass language here!, the people are very friendly and also a bit quirky and strange.

Portugal:

- The rich history of my country and what it has given to the world;
- Our monuments;
- Our culture and language;
- Our national anthem, probably the most beautiful of all the nations;
- Great works and great authors (Camões, Fernando Pessoa, Eça de Queirós, José Saramago)
- The food (arroz de marisco, francesinhas, cozido à portuguesa, caldo verde, leitão da bairrada, açorda...). GOOGLE the recipes!
- The pastry (pastel de nata, folar, bolo de mel, dom rodrigo, ovos moles, ...). GOOGLE the recipes!
- The wines (vinho do porto)
- Some music genres (fado, among others): http://en.wikipedia....sic_of_Portugal
- The women! God, the women!
- The weather;
- The beaches;

Unless you were born previous to 1707 (when Shetland became part of Great Britain), you are a British Citizen. Hold up now, what's your passport say?

I don't understand this whole "I'm not British" thing. I am English, yes. That does not preclude me from being British, European or Earthling. It in-fact dictates that I am.

Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of what all has originated from Germany in terms of culture, philosophy, inventions, scientifical progress. Still - thanks to my upbringing I find it difficult to be proud of my nationality.
