I find this irony because RIM is the one who should wakeup first

The world was a bit hasty in jumping to the conclusion that Samsung was behind a recent spontaneous protest that broke out outside of an Apple Store in Sydney, Australia. We were right in assuming that things seemed a bit too polished for the ?Wake Up? campaign to be any sort of grassroots movement, what with the professionally printed signs, coordinated outfits, and decked out bus (not to mention an accompanying website). We just had the responsible party wrong.

BlackBerry maker RIM has admitted that they were behind the charade as part of a buildup to a May 7th reveal that ?will aim to provoke conversation on what ?being in business? means to Australians.? It just won?t be provoking any conversation about Samsung or their upcoming Galaxy S III. But hey, being mistaken for Samsung is a step in the right direction for RIM, right?

I felt sorry for Samsung because I thought it's their campaign too lol (probably because of those video ads mocking Apple fans lining up for the iPhone some time earlier)

But yeah not too happy with this sort of campaign, found it silly and making people dislike them even more? I dunno

RIM announces new COO, CMO following anti-Apple ?Wake Up? reveal

The big May 7 uncloaking that revealed Research in Motion is behind the seemingly anti-Apple ?Wake Up? flash mob from last week occurred on schedule, but not too many people appeared to care as the steam from the confusing campaign already ran its quick course.

The ?Wake Up. Be Bold? marketing scheme unveiled yesterday at wakeupbebold.com by BlackBerry Australia & New Zealand and included a Star Wars-like running script read aloud by a narrator prompting viewers and listeners to ?Wake up.? Now, less than 24 hours after the brains behind the campaign came to light, RIM announced a newly appointed Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer?Kristian Tear and Frank Boulben, respectively.

Tear joins RIM from Sony Mobile Communications, where he served as Executive Vice President, and Boulben is the former Executive Vice President of Strategy, Marketing, and Sales for LightSquared.

RIM should invest their money in R&D in the hopes to finally put out a half decent product, rather than pouring money into a fruitles ad campaign towards a company that clearly produces superior smartphones and tablets. Again, this coming from a BlackBerry Torch 9860 owner.
