Ultrabook Question

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about getting Asus Zenbook but then after doing looking around found out that UX31E-DH72 has refresh coming soon, my question is that is it true and if so any guestimate date. Also is there any site which makes it easy to pick one out of 100?s (which are coming out this year) for newcomers like me into this whole Ultrabook thing.

Its probably the update from SandyBridge to Ivy Bridge, its worth the wait, I guess maybe 2 months since there are demo units already.

In my opinion only the Asus Zenbook and MacBook Air are decent Ultrabooks.

They all use the same parts, the only differences are design, and screen resolutions.

I'm also waiting for an ultrabook. Would be nice if it had the following specs:

  • 1600x900 display or higher, preferably 11.6" or 13.3" display size
  • Ivy Bridge CPU
  • Dedicated GPU (probably not gonna happen)
  • 3xUSB 3.0, Ethernet, HDMI, Bluetooth 3/4 (one can only dream)

Sounds like you want a Zenbook then. It has the most of those requirements and the only 1600x900 display I believe.

Check out the Zenbook Prime UX32VD. 1920x1080 IPS display, Ivy Bridge CPU, GeForce GT 620M GPU. The GPU does add some weight / thickness though. If you can do without it the UX31E OP mentions is shaping up to be pretty awesome. Should be here end of June.
