Checked release notes, I do not see any performance improvements for Minecraft.

If all I use it for is to play Yahoo! Games like pool and stuff, is it worth updating it to 7? I just updated it to 6 Update 33, which is the latest.

I'd be curious to see what the benefits of 7 over 6 are. I keep 7 up to date figuring I might as well use the latest and greatest (maybe).

I sincerely hope you were joking with that statement, since it isn't Oracle's job to make Minecraft run better.

Sometimes releases have performance improvements to them. This one doesn't, thus it cannot help Minecraft.

I've been using java 7 with no problems.

They fixed the jar file association bug I had w/ Update 4. yay. :)
