Gaming 'Battlefield 4' beta outed on EA Origin Store

Battlefield 4 beta has been outed by Electronic Arts.

A listing for Medal of Honor Warfighter on EA's Origin Store appears to confirm that customers who pre-order the game will gain access to the beta.

Battlefield 4 is yet to be officially unveiled by EA, but the studio has admitted that it is working on a new entry in the series, and the Origin listing appears to offer confirmation.

Battlefield 3 is already one of the company's most successful games, breaking its shipping record with ten million copies to retailers on launch day.

EA launched the Battlefield Premium subscription service last month, granting users access to new content two weeks before it is made available to the public for an annual fee of $49.99 (?34.99).

Developer DICE recently added the 'Matches' feature to the game's multiplayer to help users who rent a dedicated server to coordinate online games with friends and squad members.

Between BF3 ending up being disappointing, and ea wanting to make the game into a subscription based thing(which is guaranteed to only get wore with a new game) i think i could pass on a BF4.

Bit soon I feel. It won't offer anything new other than different maps and vehicles. Not enough time has passed since BF3 for them to be able to add anything substantial in my opinion.

I think realistically the two biggest things that would need to change for me to accept a new Battlefield 3 game would be drastically increased graphical hardware in the hands of most consumers (so lets say 5 years from now) and much better broadband so that they can increase the player cap from 64 to 128 which would make it feel closer to a real war zone.

But my logic doesn't affect EA's decisions they just want to milk a cow dry.

Precisely that. The CoD series are being milked like a cash cow, and now EA want to do the same with battlefield. I got BF3 free with my CPU, and uninstalled it after one playthrough of the SP campaign and the chances are I'm not going to bother with BF4 either. War based shooters are becoming a boring cliche in my opinion.

BF3 disappointing? Are you being serious right now?

Dude, the game did have its issues and bus on release but most of them have been fixed now. The game plays smoothly and without issues. It is ten times better than COD. What I don't agree with is the fact that EA wants to make yet another BF game. Really, there is nothing wrong with the current one. What they need to do is concentrate their efforts and resources on making the current one better and not waste money or resources in making a new one. The graphics on the current version are amazing and I just don't see it getting any better than that for a while.

Yes, i am. It was disappointing and didn't live up to the hype to me. Hard to say why, but i just couldn't get into it and enjoyed BC2 much more. And that's without taking the out of game flaws of requiring origin and that less than great "battlelog" into account.

Edit: i do agree though, that it's still better than CoD.

Well I do agree with you about Origin. The Battlelog thing is OK. I kinda like the way it tells you about your score and all that, but Origin is a pain in the ass. Totally unnecessary. BF2 didn't require that POS to work so why make it a "must have" application on BF3? Beats me what they were thinking about on that one. Overral I think the game is amazing and it would be much better if EA would get rid of that stupid Origin. The new Close Quarters maps are amazing.

BF2 also didn't let you buy the DLC while in game and have them install all on their own. Updates were also not in a central app, which I at least find annoying when I want to play a game and have to spend time updating it.

BF3 is awesome I think. Really has me spoiled now, wishing to see more games utilizing the Frostbite 2.0 engine. I can't even touch Call of Duty's multiplayer anymore because of it. It's just not nearly as fun, nor as team oriented as BF3 can be. I'm a veteran of the class play with games like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory so this is really filling out nicely.

Regarding Origin: yeah. It's a piece of crap. But at least it launches the games fine, which is really all I care about, thus my issues with it are kind of moot. Battlelog is amazing too, I didn't expect to like it as much as I ended up. Makes it hella easy to keep up with people, servers, platoons, stats, and everything.

Anyway... it amazes me that people are considering BF4 to be news, as if we didn't expect it to come into play eventually. What has ME in shock is that $70 price tag for Medal of Honor. Seriously guys, what the HELL is THAT?!!!

I agree. COD sucks. You can't get on any vehicles, fly anything, no matter how many times you shoot at a building with a rocket, it won't come down. The destruction on BF3 is unlike any other game out there. Driving or flying vehicles and being able to destroy everything is what makes it fun.

Couple of thoughts:

1. BF3 is a great game, no question. It may not be what some people expected, but I don't see how one can claim it's not an amazing game - especially compared to it's rivals! Also, Orgin does not affect it in any negative way. It is completely blown out of proportion. You log into origin like you would log into steam (for example). Then you log into battelog like you would log into any other online game. Compared to say Diablo 3, BF3 is a dream to log into. It's also great how you launch games from your web browser, and the game will automatically maximise to full screen once the level is loaded - so you can continue browsing other sites etc. and never ever even see the loading screen.

2. How soon is too soon? This is securing early access to a beta with no date even for this. BF4 could be years away for all we know.

Having said that, I think it would be fair if they had offered beta access to all the people that just paid for premium. It's still a great deal what we got, but now I have the urge to pre-order a whole game just for the beta access, which thankfully im not quite crazy enough to do.

I got BF3 free with my CPU, and uninstalled it after one playthrough of the SP campaign and the chances are I'm not going to bother with BF4 either. War based shooters are becoming a boring cliche in my opinion.

/facepalm

BF3 was very good but the whole premium thing and the "unlock for cash" was just a spit in the face to all the players who worked so hard to unlock all their gear for EA to turn round and just let bratty kids get their mom and dad to splash out cash to unlock the same content.

As for BF4 and all the other greedy ass corporations going to subscription, they can kiss my ass, they're not getting a penny.

Anyway... it amazes me that people are considering BF4 to be news, as if we didn't expect it to come into play eventually. What has ME in shock is that $70 price tag for Medal of Honor. Seriously guys, what the HELL is THAT?!!!

It's only $60 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. $70 for the Limited Edition.

EA is very Limited Edition happy now. Sigh. I wouldn't mind if the other people could still get the extra content later.

looks like they gonna adapt to yearly releases cycle like COD (N)

Considering the 1 year anniversary of BF3 is in little more than 3 months I somehow doubt that. Chances of seeing BF4 before 2014 - slim to none. And then there is Bad Company 3, which if they follow their release trend should be their next game.

Generally though the Bad Company games have been for lack of a beta word beta tests of new versions of their frostbite engine to make them ready for their Battlefield Games. BF4 will probably be running Frostbite 3.

At any rate, DICE hasn't confirmed they are even working on BF4 yet (not that they would) so it's all speculation at this point.

So yeah, the OP is a little misleading because DICE has in fact not confirmed they are working on BF4 yet. If you follow the links it leads to the president of EA simply saying "there is going to be a battlefield 4", and nothing more.

According to reports on Twitter, Electronic Arts president Frank Gibeau commented that "there is going to be a Battlefield 4" during a keynote at the University of Southern California.

    • So, recently, I saw on the news (yes, on this website) that Samsung is introducing features where it can provide education using AI-powered sets, and because of this, I got concerned about whether the AI gives out wrong info during education sessions, causing controversies in the process. What are your thoughts on this?
    • TCL's Bang & Olufsen soundbar is 40% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The TCL Design Series A65K is currently $299.99, down from $499.99. That's 40% off and $200 saved on a soundbar tuned by Bang & Olufsen, which is not a combination you'd normally expect at this price point (purchase link below). Bang & Olufsen doesn't typically show up in the sub-$500 category. The Danish audio brand is known for speakers that cost several times more, so having their acoustic tuning on a $300 soundbar is very appealing. TCL handles the hardware, B&O handles the sound engineering, and the result is what the company calls "accessible luxury." Still, accessible luxury isn’t full-fledged luxury, so don’t expect wonders. But this is a decent soundbar, nevertheless. The A65K is a true 3.1.2 channel system with nine physical drivers, including genuine up-firing height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Many soundbars at this price simulate overhead effects through virtual processing, rather than actual hardware. So, you’re getting the real deal. The design is unusually slim for a system with Atmos compatibility. The bar is just under 2 inches deep and should fit beneath most TV screens. The wireless subwoofer is also compact at roughly 14 x 14 x 5 inches. Total output is 460W, and you can connect to the soundbar via HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.3, or USB. There are also eight sound modes through the TCL Home app and an AI calibration capability. Although it’s worth mentioning that AI capabilities in most of these devices are inconsistent, to say the least, and that shouldn’t be the biggest selling point. Still, at $299.99, the A65K is a strong buy for anyone who wants a soundbar that sounds and looks noticeably better than what this price range usually offers. And the Bang & Olufsen branding surely sounds nice - pun intended. • I sure hope the AI does not give out wrong info during education
