Three arrested after heroin sale at Chic-Fil-A

Counter narcotic agents arrested three people ? including a reputed Bloods gang member ? after witnessing a man sell heroin at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Wilmington, officials said Thursday.

The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit set up surveillance on Wednesday at the Market Street Chick-fil-A, near the New Centre Drive intersection, and watched as an employee, Jarvon Everett, sold heroin out of the restaurant's back door, according to sheriff's office officials.

The unit launched the investigation into the suspected heroin dealer after receiving complaints that an individual was selling drugs from a local business, said sheriff's office spokesman Sgt. Jerry Brewer.

Heroin has become a focal point of counter narcotics investigators in Wilmington and New Hanover County as use of the highly addictive and potentially fatal drug has grown in recent years. The arrests at a family-focused fast-food restaurant famous for chicken sandwiches only underscores the problem's ubiquity.

It was unclear how long Everett had worked at Chick-fil-A. Attempts to contact the restaurant as well as the company's corporate headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., for comment were unsuccessful.

As the county narcotics unit prepared to approach Everett after the deal, Darion Jerod Graham, 23, pulled into the back parking lot and handed Everett a Bojangles chicken box containing 50 bags of heroin, officials said.

Agents arrested Everett and Graham. Tashawna Sade Robinson, 19,who was in the car with Graham, was also arrested. All three suspects face charges of conspiracy, heroin possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
