Okay, we all know that Windows 7 added a way to disable window shadows in the performance settings.

Despite the original screenshots suggesting otherwise (that they would only be for active windows), the RTM build appears to have window shadows disabled, period.

But, do you think Microsoft may have just cheated and just unchecked that box by default? Do you think we'll be able to re-enable them through there?

No, I think it's gone, unfortunately. However, this is just my opinion and gut instinct.

Shadows are there and enabled by default. They're just barely visible at all. I had to zoom in to see the difference between enabled and disabled.

Yup, there's about a 1px shadow around the active window. Shadows are as good as gone.
