It's here :) This goes with Microsoft's philosophy of their metro apps being lightweight and portable apps, and desktop apps for the more advanced functions. Still downloading (135 mb)!

Don't get your hopes up, people :p

The installer has been rebranded ("Live" removed and the Windows Live design removed), but some of the apps are still named Windows Live X (e.g. Windows Live Messenger), some of them still have the Windows Live design, and they all still have the Windows Live icons :s

Some of the new features in Photo Gallery and Movie Maker sound cool, though, especially Auto Collage :)

The Movie Maker now have the metro style and it's connected to SkyDrive and Facebook too.
The Photo Gallery can Upload to Facebook, SkyDrive, YouTube, Flickr, Vimeo and Groups

Hard-hitting reporting there, Mr. Burgundy.

I think this is great news! Microsoft will still be supporting Windows Live Writer and the regular version of Messenger, many were afraid if MS would just kill them all in favor of the Apps in Windows 8, (There's even an on line petition to keep support of those programs), looks that this will not be the case then.

Jesus, thanks for the heads up. I use Live Mesh on all my computers, and while it wouldn't be catastrophical, it sure would be a waste of time to revert to the old version.

On the other hand, movie maker finally supports mp4 exports. Tough decision, I am going to try and force mesh on top of this :p

The new Movie maker is a prime example of them thinking that users are too stupid, and in turn making a dumbed down UI.

Movie Maker has been like this for a long time. Which means you don't use it anyway, so why complain?

Anyway, boring update. :|
