Thank god the parents have an option to opt their kids out if they want.

Exactly. How else can you get your kids on the 13 and pregnant reality shows if you allow them condoms when they will have sex no matter what the parent says.

A few do that but some parents teach abstinent only. That should be a parent's right.

Either way, opt-in or opt-out, we've lost control. The children of families who opt-out will still have access to the condoms through friends. But 12 in my opion is out of line.

Why is it out of line? If kids that age are participating in sex wouldn't it make sense to deal with kids that age?

If they are participating at that age, then their parents aren't doing their job.

Parents rarely do their job when it comes to raising adolescents. Most teens don't want to talk to their parents about sex, and the parents dont want to talk to their kids about it. They'll figure it out on their own. Might as well be safe about it.

All of our kids always talked to us. From our oldest down to our youngest. I was floored when my my oldest who is now 28, when she was 16 came to me asking questions about sex. But I explained to her the pros and cons. Told her it was her choice to make. I never once told her that it was wrong or right. But she made her decision and didn't have sex until she was 18.

I'm hoping when the time comes, my youngest comes to me or my wife and not her friends. We will tell her the same as we told the others.

Then you're better than most parents.. cause most would avoid the questions like the plague, or respond with either some slogan from a PSA in the 50's, or religious nonsense that is supposed to just make them feel bad about it, but really just leaves the child/teen ill-informed and ignorent of the risks.

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?
