Postmen to be tracked by GPS

Recommended Posts

From January next year Austrian postmen are to be tracked by GPS signal in an attempt to control the time required for postal deliveries.

Post office bosses will be able to follow every step the postmen take.

Bosses say it will only be used a few weeks a year and that every postman will be given the hand held GPS device.

They will also be kitted out with digital time computer devices - which package delivery companies use - so that delivery times can be confirmed.

Many postmen are against these new rules claiming they feel they are being spied on.

Post Unionist Martin Palensky said: "The GPS system is only going to be used to check certain criteria. It will only be allowed to be used for three weeks a year. Postmen will be informed about what is being tracked.
