It has been a while, but aren't integers a subset of reals (thus every integer is a member of the set of real numbers)?

You're correct on that, integers are a subset of reals, imaginary numbers on the other side aren't.

Umm, don't get it. Def not funny.

Real number = Positive numbers (Unsigned). Anything that is for all intents and purposes an actual thing. You can see 1 apple (1 = real), but you can't see -1 apple (-1 = not real, but an integer).

Not all that confusing.. and I suck at math.

so it's using words to describe something that also hold different meaning.

ie) There are 10 types of people in this world, those that know binary and those that don't. Most people see that as 10, but in binary it's the decimal equivelant of 2.

Sometimes firey, Explaining a joke takes away the funny. You just did that :/

I had to, when people say they don't understand something as basic as that, it's like a need I have to explain it. I can't just let it be unexplained.

And Markus, nearly 100% of the time explaining a joke makes it not funny, but I would rather a joke be explained than have someone saying: "Don't get it, not funny"

Oh... wait. I get it. Holy Bartender! Ha, ha, ha!

dogma quote aside, cheers for explaining I wasn't 100% there.

Thanx for explaining it.

Why can't some people simply take a joke at face value instead of (incorrectly) analyzing the crap out of it?

With the exception of Arpit, you are all talking out of your rears.

I did :) all I said was bump bump tish meaning your joke was rather dry.

Because good jokes can either be unexplainable or are 100% accurate. Otherwise I could piece random words together that sound funny and you should all laugh.

It's probably more of a programming joke than a mathematics joke. If you declare a variable to be an integer, you cannot assign non-integer real numbers like 1.5 to it. The more you think about it, however, the less funny it gets. Since all integers are real numbers, the statement isn't quite right that if God is declared an integer, it is not real.

That said, a variable named God being a real number is as real as any god will ever be.

Guys, it's a programming joke.

Here's an explanation for those that didn't get it:

This refers to the FORTRAN language, in which undeclared variables can be typed based on the first letter of the variable name in question. In the case of 'God', this means that (under these implicit typing rules), the God variabled would be declared as real (single/double precision floating number).
