ST. PETERSBURG — Joseph Pineda demanded a free meal Friday afternoon when he pulled up to a McDonald's drive-through window. He was entitled to it, he told restaurant employees, because he was a cop, Pinellas sheriff's deputies said.

But the employees and a manager at the McDonald's on 5464 66th Street N didn't believe him, even after Pineda showed them a badge and gun. He had just come from a sting, he told them, and didn't have his wallet, deputies said. He continued to demand that his food should be free.

That's when employees called the real police, who arrested Pineda, 33, on charges of impersonating a police officer and improper exhibition of a firearm.

Pineda surrendered at gunpoint after initially ignoring commands from the arriving deputies to show his hands. Inside his car, officers found two fake police badges and a real .45 caliber handgun in the center console.

Pineda, of Pinellas Park, was being held in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $10,500 bail.

Wow, you couldn't even have tried it at a somewhat less ****ty restaurant? I mean damn, I don't know if I'd want McDonalds even if it was free!

He's a real winner. You'd think he would have left after a bit. Yeah, let's just hang around and get arrested.

Hope you read the story and realized he wasn't even a cop and was impersonating a cop to try and get free meals..

I carried a .45 on duty, and still do. There are still a lot of departments and cops that carry and prefer the .45 ACP. What are you saying we should all be carrying? I'll take my .45 over a 9mm or .40 any day.

a .45 is over kill there is no point in it, obviously a gun is used to kill and there is no way around that fact but shot with a small weapon and chances of the person surviving increase... if someone is worth shooting then them dying isnt as sweet as letting them live to suffer prison

^ If you were facing an armed killer, trying to take someone's life, a .45 would not be 'overkill'.
