Android 4.1.2 rolling out for Nexus 7 with bug fixes and landscape mode

After being officially announced earlier today, an update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is coming to the Nexus 7. A reader of EE Times has sent in screenshots of Android 4.1.2, which appears to be rolling out in batches — we haven't yet seen it ourselves. While not a huge update, it does promise a new landscape orientation for the Nexus 7, shown below. Previously, the tablet's home screen was permanently fixed in portrait. It's also supposed to squash some bugs and improve performance. We're expecting it to come to more people in the next hour, so keep checking for updates.

I don't see the update on my Nexus 7 - yet. Does anyone else have it yet?

I'll have to check for updates when I go home. Finally all the whiners can stop whining about not having a landscape home screen (which could be easily fixed by 3rd party launchers). Personally, I'm not a fan of landscape home screens, it just looks ugly. Consistency is a nice thing, and portrait mode consistency for me.

Sweet. I downloaded an app which added that support. It was surprising auto rotate didn't work at launch.

It wasn't something that was broken, they did it on purpose. It was stated when the N7 was launched IIRC.

I received the OTA update earlier. No big changes, as is to be expected in a .0.1 update.

Fixed the lag bug on the nexus 7!

Basically if you filled your nexus 7's storage past 3GB free space, the apps and the OS would start stuttering. Turns out TRIM was disabled...4.1.2 enables it again (only for the nexus 7 with samsung emmc). If you are experiencing stuttering, update to 4.1.2 then use the app "Forever Gone." The app will fix any past TRIM errors by completely filling the free space with blank files and then deleting it.

Been using it for a days. One of the first times I have left an Android device unrooted, and just taken updates like a normal consumer. This device has been pretty awesome to use!

Now that I have been playing with the ipad2 for a few months it bothers me i have to use itunes (and it got my db corrupted already) i want to move back to android. I wish Nexus10 would come out. This update looks great.
