After close call US rocket engine investigated

The RL10 upper stage is a venerable liquid hydrogen rocket engine, early versions dating back to 1961, that is overdue for replacement. Thing is a problem could effect both the Delta IV and the Atlas V launchers. Their maker, ULA, has been working with XCOR (of the Lynx spaceplane) on one potential candidate, and there are others, but no replacement is imminent.

U.S. Air Force Probing Glitch With Launch Of GPS Satellite

The U.S. Air Force on Thursday launched an investigation into a glitch with the flight of an unmanned Delta 4 rocket that carried a GPS navigational satellite into orbit last week.

The Global Positioning System 2F spacecraft reached its intended orbit despite a problem with the rocket
