Zip
right, ive installed 4051 fresh install over where 4029 was. for me longhorn as got a hell of a lot slower with all these fancy things. my 1.2ghz machine wont take it to well. anyways, i went to look at the processes and was astomished by how many there were (fresh install - i havent even put anything on it yet). I noticed one thing in perticular (apart from longhorn was using 410mb of memory) theres a process called winfs thats eating 100mb of resources. is this winfs implimented or is it just a service to demonstrate what winfs will do? i hope it uses less memory by release (even though it will be 2005/2006 so we'll probably be on a few gigs by then). pimpshiznid
It you want to tweak the 4051 build, and turn down the memory leak, chack out this tweak guide! http://69.50.228.116/Chris123NT/PDC_4051/LHGuide.html
kyosuken
well that guide is cool and all, but what's the point if you transform your longhorn to windows 2K to be able to use it ?. It's slow now, because Winfs is monitoring permanently the computer and is not really built to be stable and fast.. for now. It's pretty powerfull yet, but not working like expected i thing.. if you throw some mp3 to the Music folder they will be replicated instead of being indexed (same with pictures). A lot of things interesting anyway
