Android Texting problem

Recommended Posts

My friend has a Samsung Galaxy S2 and she has problem typing texts out on the stock IM/SMS app. What happens is that when she presses the space bar, it erases her entire message. Any thoughts guys? It's getting annoying, even for me to recieve txts without spaces. Will a new 3rd party App like Handcent SMS fix the problem?

Thanks guys.

Have you guys heard of this problem before? I couldn't find any solutions online. I'll try and get her to use Handcent, and hope the bug/glitch is fixed.

Silly question is this ALL the time? There is a pretty common bug with android that affects keyboards when the phone is being charged, I end up having to take mine off charge if I want to type anything.

I"ll need to ask her. But I also mention the phone being charged thing as well. I'll let you guys know when I have an update.

Ok she says it suddenly comes and goes. It doesn't matter if it's charging or not charging it always randomly happens. It's not only in messaging, it happens everywhere when she uses the keyboard.

Razor, ask if she wouldn't mind giving her email out to me... because if she doesn't, I'll send her my swiftkey apk and she can see if it is the input keyboard messing it up. Swiftkey is the best keyboard out imho.

If she doesn't mind, PM me man.

Or send me your email, and I'll email it to you.

I think that is a big generalization, because I have never heard of this bug, and I have tried many Android phones. If it is a problem, it's not widespread, and limited to a few devices. Otherwise we would have heard about it.

I've had the bug on my Xperia S (ICS Stock and Cyanogen) and Xperia Arc (GB), friend has it on Xperia P (GB). It's also mentioned on other forums for other phones, the issue is when using third party chargers/leads it seems they can overcharge and cause issues.

I've also been using Android devices for quite a while and not once heard of this issue. However, looking at your experiences it sounds like this is a Sony related issue and not an "Android" one.

As for the issue itself, I'd also recommend factory resetting the device.

Whilst my experiences have been on Sony devices those links in my post show that it's apparent on other makes too. So yes it is a known issue regarding Android devices under certain circumstances.

Overlooking the fact that you've used all Sony devices, all of those links you posted are from over a year ago (one of them nearly 2) and one of them had no responses at all. I'd hardly call that a common Android issue. Seems rather isolated actually.

Regardless, I'm not saying no one has ever experienced it. Just pointing out it is not actually common.

There is something weird with my ASUS Transformer & using the spacebar inside the youtube app

If you have watched a video, then start typing in the search box above the video thumbnails, and you have to hit space to type the next word, spacebar becomes either the down arrow or tab button and suddenly highlights one of the video thumbnails instead of typing a space, there is nothing I can do at this stage so all my next searches have to be one word titles

    • Wow, imagine you dump hundreds of hours into completing things and unlocking stuff and you lose it all. Back in the day when cheats were built into games, you could at least unlock things again that way without spending hundreds of hours again. But those days are long gone for some reason as no one builds cheats into games anymore. So it's even more painful that studio that's on its 6th installment **** it up so badly.
    • Spotify finally removes the disco ball app icon in the latest update by Ivan Jenic Image: Spotify Spotify has just released an update that removes its now infamous disco ball icon. The update reverts the app icon to the familiar flat green logo after weeks of mixed reactions online. The icon arrived on May 13 as part of the company's 20th anniversary celebration and was always intended to be temporary, though Spotify only confirmed that after the backlash started. The disco ball took the internet by storm, as the reception was split. A vocal group of users called it ugly and disorienting, with some iOS users noting that the 3D glowing effect made the app look like it was stuck mid-update. On the other end, the icon picked up a following of its own. Its retro, three-dimensional look immediately stood out against the flat, minimalist aesthetic that has dominated app design for years. It even started a small movement, spawning what people started calling "discomorphism," a mashup of disco and skeuomorphism. Other brands started posting disco ball versions of their own logos, probably in an effort to ride the wave of memes that flooded the internet during late May. Spotify has had a turbulent relationship with its user base lately. Besides the disco ball icon, which certainly wasn't appreciated by everyone, the company has also received backlash for its willingness to include AI-generated music on its platform. On May 17, Spotify promised the old icon would return “in a few weeks.” And now it looks like that time has finally arrived. So, whether you liked the disco ball or it made you uncomfortable, it’s now gone for good. The next time you update the Spotify app on your phone, the old, flat-design icon will return.
