Hello everyone.

At this moment I have testing Windows 8 trial. I just wonder how to use vhd file with Windows XP in Windows 8. I know how to attach vhd file, but how to boot Windows XP when laptop starts. Now I have dual boot: Win7 and Win8. I want to add WinXP to boot menu. Can anyone tell me how to do it? Is it possible to do this? Sorry for my bad english, I'm still learning :)

I don't think Windows XP can boot from vhd like 7 and 8 can. You can however run it inside of hyper-v as a virtual machine using vhd.

Not sure if it can boot XP via a VHD but recommended to try it, I had it for multibooting W7, XP and Mac OSX and it worked great! :D

XP can't boot from a VHD, you have to run it as a guest OS via a virtual machine app like 8's built in hyper-v feature, virtualbox or vmware. Or do a full install and dual boot it.

LOL the boot feature depends on the boot loader and other components depending on the app. EasyBCD can easily boot an XP VHD or Linux.
