So i've been living with a few friends for the past few years and decided i want my own space. Sold my beloved Roland drums to cover the deposit and rent. Bought a new TV, corner sofa etc.

Moved in on the 1st November......moved out the 5th November..... 4 Days in i was robbed blind while out at football training.

In total they took

Samsung 46" 3D TV

LG 27" 3D Monitor

Dell Vostro Laptop

Apple Macbook

Wallet containing cards and ?110

My work keys

Xbox Slim with all games and kinect.

Luckily they left my main PC and Micro-server with all my movies and tv shows on....oh and my pet snake!

:(

Wow that really sucks! :( Sorry to hear it and hope you do manage to get some leads on where the items may be, out of interest, where in the UK are you?

what breed is the snake? and how old is he or she?

Its a Cornsnake and probably just over 2 years old now.

Hull, East Yorkshire

Maybe just go door to door to the areas you think could have been invovled. You might just get something in sight when they open their door. Tell them you are just asking for some sugar, or you need to make a phone call... try to think of something that many wouldn't mind letting you inside for just a second.

If they seem really nervious or shaky, you can add them to a list of maybes....

Don't know what else you can do really besides that.

It was most likley someone near you though.

Do people actaully go to their neighbours to borrow sugar? You would get stabbed or shot where im from if you asked for the time let alone sugar :)

Im not pursuing it thats what i pay taxes for, let the police do their job (lilke they ever will!) just gonna learn from my mistake and get back on my feet and come back stronger and more paranoid of the world and people around me :)

Not really :p But it is a way to maybe get into their living room for a short time. Just be like, " I was in the middle of cooking "whatever" and noticed I was out of sugar. Could I please get a cup from you if possible?" Or ask if you can use their line to call something for something urgent, because for some reason, your line is down.

All you need to do is get a glimpse inside of their place to see if you notice anything familiar. Hopefully they haven't already pawned or stashed it somewhere else.

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
