VirnetX has added iPhone 5, iPad Mini and other recently released iDevices to lawsuit.Not content with winning over $368 million in a court victory against Apple
over a FaceTime patent lawsuit, VirnetX has added two key products belonging to the former into an additional lawsuit.
As was the case in its previous complaint, VirnetX is accusing Apple of infringing four of its networking patents via the utilization of FaceTime through the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.
Patents Nos. 6,502,135, 7,418,504, 7,921,211 and 7,490,151, relate to advancements for secure communication over the web: technology for creating a virtual private network between two computers a system, a protocol pertaining to secure communications using secure domain names, as well as establishing a secure communications link related to a domain name service request.
The products which are accused of infringing the aforementioned patents are the iPhone 5, iPad Mini, fourth-generation iPad, fifth-generation iPod Touch, in addition to the latest Mac system lineup. Due to their recent release dates, these latest iDevices weren't added in the previous suit filed by VirnetX.
VirnetX has a history of suing technology firms including Microsoft, of which it won a settlement of $200 million. It's currently suing Cisco, Avaya, and other companies for the alleged infringement of its patents.http://www.tomshardw...hone,19043.html
