I like Twinkies, but not that much. That is ridiculous.

They can keep them. I am not crazy about them anyway, at least not that crazy.

there is no such thing as "proper" foods... everything is relative to your tastes... lots of people think european chocolates taste like crap... same idea

Twinkies aren't candies. And yeah, what neufuse said. What tastes good to you all has to do with your upbringing and what you are used to. Watch a few episodes of "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern". Something that is considered a delicacy in one culture may be absolutely disgusting to someone from a totally different culture.

Is this one of those "only in America" moments?

This sort of snack/processed cakes are sold here in the sweets/candy section of the death aisle (sweets + fried + salts).
A quick look at the ingredients should suffice.

you might want to look up what a candy is and what a cake is... they are two completely different things... just because they share some ingredients doesn't make one the other

in the USA a candy isle has only things like Snickers, M&M's, taffey, gum drops, etc etc.... then you have a "snack food" isle that is cookies, cakes, twinkies, etc...

asking and selling are two completely diffent things, I could ask a trillion dollars for my a box of hostess items but doesn't make them worth that...

No, it's one of those "I know what the **** I'm talking about and you obviously don't" moments.

I said they weren't candies, not that they weren't sweets. They are a cream filled cake. Very different, in culinary terms, from a candy. They are sometimes sold on the same aisle here, but at least some of us know enough about cooking to know the difference in terminology.

Wow, us Americans are absolutely retarded. Eat up, fatties. As if we are not already obese enough. Time for some changes, people. Spend your money on something worthwhile, like a gym membership or a dietary book.
