Need help picking out a new laptop!

Hey guys, for Christmas I need a new laptop but I need help picking one out!

Budget ~800-1000

Screen- 14-15.6in

Memory - at least 8gb

Resolution - Preferably > 1366x768

HDD: ssd would be really nice!

So where's what I need it for. I do web surfing, music, Java, Python and C programming, web design and possibly gaming. I need it for school so good battery life is key!

I really like Ultrabooks, but idk if it's for me. I would also like to be able to play games but it's not crucial, so idk if I should skip an ultrabook and get a laptop with a graphics card in it. But i do love how thin and light ultrabooks are. I don't need a cd drive, so an ultrabook would work, but I would like hdmi out!

Thoughts?

Small screen. 14" really is my limit. I really like 15.6

Pretty far out of my budget, it's not really flexible. I do love that laptop though! But not 802.11n? wtf?
