I just hang out at home, watch some TV. On Friday nights I walk down town and have some drinks then walk home. Sometimes on Saturday and Sundays I also work on computers. It doesn't bother me that much I love doing it so it never feels like work. From the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed I'm always doing something with computers.

Same here, Computers is my hobby too so making money from it is a bonus, kinda like going to the pub and them paying me to drink :p

In recent months, my weekends have consisted of having a few drinks with friends on Friday night, then sleeping as much as I can on Saturday and Sunday while catching up with TV and video games. When it gets to the weekend I'm knackered and just need some downtime to prepare me for the next week.

Do you go shopping?

Do you go shopping?

Not particularly. Shopping doesn't interest me, if I need to get something then I go in to the shop, buy it and get out. Normally though that kind of shopping is for a film or video game, so I prefer to use Amazon.co.uk. Partially because I can be guaranteed that the media is in English and not French, and secondly because then I can browse to my heart's content.

Now if you're talking about food shopping, I do that during the week. That is certainly not pleasant, not something that I would consider to be relaxing. Hence doing it during the week and not on the weekend when it's all about me. :D

Ever since I quit drinking three months ago, absolutely nothing. That is all anyone ever wants to do. It is rather depressing, for them, not for me. People aren't kidding when they say you find out who is really your friend, or just "drinking buddies," after you quit.

I'm fine just sitting here browsing around, waiting for NFL Sunday. That is about all my week adds up to, watching football on Sunday.

thats life unfortunately, socialising now means drinking.. although there's nothing wrong with a drink on a weekend, helps wind down after a week at work. I'll drink every weekend without fail, sometimes it's 1 or 2 with the takeaway, sometimes it's a few more, other times it will be a full blown binge.. all in moderation, don't need to get tanked every weekend. The rare few times i've not had a drink on a weekend they have been boring and depressing.. sad i know.

I work with computers all week so on weekends I go to clubs and have sex with random strangers. Nothing takes my mind off work more then having sex with someone I'll never see again.

Clubbing? Sounds violent. Who are you clubbing?

Damn, why the like button's gone? This one's an A-bomb

As for me... I usually click stuff on the internets till well after midnight, then I sleep till well past the afternoon. I don't drink, so having friends (and I harbor this funny old-timey illusion of the concept), doing holy sh* awesome stuff and having a good time to tweet about and remember later (or on the contrary - being reminded of, to be slightly ashamed of, but for no more than ten or twenty seconds of universally acclaiming laughter, as it happens) is out of question. At all.

I used to think I'm a gamer, but after the personal budget cuts I've lost what little skill I had had. Or perhaps I'm just tired, because I seem to have lost the best part of the interest, too.

One can tell that I consider most people [who socialize] shallow, but in truth it's me who's more shallow than a great many of them. I hate everyone and everything seems stupid to me.

Sometimes I write an article or two for the local IT news site I click at more than others. I like writing. "I write like" Cory Doctorow (which should say how POS that is). I do think I have a better way with words than many, but not so much that I could do something more with it - I suspect it's because I can't be arsed, though. They say many things about sheer determination as opposed to having raw talent.

that sounded like the end of a suicide note.

that sounded like the end of a suicide note.

Nah, I couldn't do it. Both the note and the very thing.

I like editing and revising. As you can now see, I've added a couple things to my previous post, too. This one, too. I never get it right with the first time. Nor the second and the third, if I'm even allowed. Suicide's kind of a terminal decision. George Carlin has said all the rest about it in his "Life is worth losing".

I've upgraded to Subscriber Squared partly because of unlimited editing time...

Did my alcoholic time while still in the Army, I don't drink much anymore, maybe a case a year if that, depending on money. Don't socialize much, I find that most people I meet annoy the living daylights out of me, unless it's another Veteran, so yeah, hate non vets, get along fine with vets. I just stay home and chill with the kids, do laundry. I miss 24h supermarkets, we have none here, it was nice to be able to go to the store at say 2am and essentially have the store to myself, makes shopping very enjoyable.

I spend my weekends doing homework recently, writing a bit for Neowin, and trying to maintain something resembling a social life. I tend to come home from school on Friday and immediately start into some homework to try and get it out of the way quickly. I might meet some friends that evening, or on Saturday evening. Basically, we meet up since we don't have a chance to do so during the week. That's maybe at 6 or 7pm, and then I'll come home around 11 or 12 that night. When I come home, it's back to homeworks. :/

If i get any free time I'll write something for Neowin, or perhaps edit a few article ideas I have in my head and try to polish them up to standard. Then on Sundays I go to my grandfather's place and help out around with shopping and the like. Supermarkets on a Sunday are absolute bedlam, but that's no different to any other time in the week I guess. If I'm not feeling my writing is up to scratch I'll probably fire up a game on Steam.

My weekends are exciting, huh?

I don't shoot "every" weekend, but I do enjoy target practicing from time to time. Other times I go hunting for whatever is in season at the time. Today I actually got around to building me a target rack so I can stop propping pop cans up on a pile of dirt or trying to find a dead tree to tack my targets to. I'm actually quite a gun enthusiast. I own them for hunting and, should the need ever arise, self and home defense, and that doesn't just apply to humans. We have mountain lions, wild boar, bobcats, possums, and all sorts of critters that can be dangerous to pets and livestock.

going by your targets your not a very good shot :p lol

I watch Rugby, hang out with the wife and await the arrival of our baby

Weekends lately have been spent chilling, spending time with my wife.

I've stopped drinking, or really cut back on the intake, I can?t handle the hangovers anymore.

I don?t have long lies, I can?t sleep much past 7am, so I?m up and watching any movies that my wife doesn?t want to see.

If we do go out to the shops we want to be there for the doors opening, and get home before they get too busy.

We've recently started Geo-caching, which is a great way to get out in the fresh air and an excuse to stop vegetating in front of the TV all day.

Most of them were used teaching my brother's girlfriend to shoot. She was absolutely scared to death to even touch a .22 pistol after I actually put a round in it, and most of her shots went about 2 feet above the board from about 10 yards away, :p One of them (bottom center) I was trying to show my brother how to zero his .22 rifle, but for some reason he does not have any way to adjust windage, only the elevation, so that's why all his shots are off to the right.

Some of them are me though, I was showing the wife how to quickly fire two shots at a target with the AR-15 from about 7 yards, so we weren't going for tight groups, we were looking for:

1) Up

2) 2 shots on the paper

3) Back to low ready

I travel quite regularly. Stuck in an office around 60 hours per week, I make the most of my weekends and travel the state. I'm always knackered and half asleep on Monday but it makes for a fun weekend and gives me something to look forward to on Friday.

Either that, or I just get sloshed with friends and head to a club.

    • If I could, I would commemorate it the best way possible: Replacing old machines that are still running Windows XP with something more modern, stable and better.     Noone and nothing should be running Windows XP in 2026.
    • Google's new hand-wave reCAPTCHA can be bypassed with a stock photo by Ivan Jenic Image: Screenshot Google is testing a new reCAPTCHA method that asks you to wave at your camera to prove you're human. So, besides solving puzzles and reading distorted text, you can now use your computer’s camera to pass the verification test. When the hand gesture verification is triggered, your browser asks for camera access and prompts you to perform a simple gesture, like a wave or an open palm. Google says it records a short video of the movement and uses AI to extract 21 hand-knuckle coordinates to complete the verification process. The video is then immediately deleted, and Google swears it doesn't keep it. The process alone can be uncomfortable for people who wouldn’t want their biometric data, which hand scans technically qualify as, recorded. But it gets even more nuanced, as early testers discovered that the new hand-waving reCAPTCHA can be passed with a simple stock image. A user on X tested the new challenge using a stock image of a hand fed through OBS Virtual Camera, and it passed. I wanted to verify it, so I tried the same thing. It took me a few tries and a few stock images, but in the end, I was also able to pass the test. I simply had to readjust the stock image of a generic person waving inside OBS, and Google’s mechanism registered it as a legitimate hand gesture. Once again, it didn’t even have to be a video or an AI-generated hand animation. Given the simplicity of the process, the entire action can be automated in minutes. All it takes is a simple Python script to render the new reCAPTCHA method obsolete. And it doesn’t even have to be an AI bot, which is usually used for solving puzzles and other verification methods. The new reCAPTCHA method is still in its early phase, and Google will, hopefully, update its AI to at least reject still images. However, this incident, combined with users’ initial skepticism about Google’s practices regarding user data, likely won’t make too many people wave at the camera anytime soon.
    • 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "to fund healthcare and tuition" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Who do you think you are talking about, some COMMUNIST? We are better than them, doG bless Murica!!! p.s. I'm from a country where government does exactly that, i.e. not form US.
    • Apparently not. I know it is on Edge for business at the moment, but how long will it be before it become on the home version of Edge?
