I've decided that I want to try something new. I have no experience with Virtual Machines but I know how they are used.
I'd like to set up a small virtual machine environment to build and test my website code on.
I need PHP, MySQL (along with the phpMyadmin panel), Apache (obviously) and FTP access. (plus whatever else I'm forgetting that most current day web servers use)
it can be Linux or Windows based, may prefer Windows for ease of use because I don't feel like messing with Terminals as much as I feel like working.
What software or software packages do you all recommend for this? I'm running a quad core AMD Phenom II. As I said, I have no experience working with or setting up virtual machines. So I need to know how to set up it and what to use, and also how to tweak it and whatever.
Nah. It has/had it's quirks that are either usual for every Windows version or a non-issue, like its easily bypassable requirements, raw launch state, broken updates and inclusion of AI, but past that, it's received tons of improvements especially in the last couple years, and we're now looking forward to 26H2 and the K2 program with a ton of QoL improvements, so it's clearly upwards.
if you want to game in the livingroom, run optical hdmi and active usb 3 cables from your pc into your room of choice. add a usb hub at the end of it and plug devices into it. plug hdmi into tv.
less than £100, flawless 4k gaming in 2 rooms. no need for an overpriced box of ancient hardware.
if it's your home, run under floorboards for an invisible implementation.
tip: use something like display fusion to setup keyboard shortcuts to switch between display/audio configs, which you can invoke from either location
