You know he really does make some decent points and he even provides evidence and insight to back them up. I was initially put off by his "unusable" statement at the beginning, but you really need to watch the whole video. Interesting stuff.

I did watch the entire video. None of it made sense. He's just another hater. Haters gonna hate.

I think he brings up a lot of good points.

One area Microsoft should not of failed, a proper tutorial or how to navigate Windows 8.

The one Microsoft shows is inadequate and there's no way to even bring it up again (unless you create a new user account).

Ugh, video was "UNWATCHABLE" after a couple of minutes. 8 really isn't that hard to use or even multitask in. I have 5 monitors I use to multitask on my windows 7 machine and was able to do multitask just fine on my laptop with windows 8. I know people get all hot and bothered about having to install an extension to something that should be good already, but with Start8 windows 8 becomes windows 7 plus. You even get customization of the start menu which was a pain in the butt to hack certain things in windows 7. I get it, people don't like change. Microsoft will add the start button back eventually and people will get used to it. Facebook timeline all over again.

This person brought up some very good points. Sadly, he failed to support his argument and fell short for several reasons. Most of which, by the end, he admitted to only using Windows 8 for 30 minutes (so much for using it for "30 days," which he inappropriately used in the beginning to enhance his credibility). That, along with his style of presentation, makes it too easy to disregard what he had to say.

windows 8 is trash and i'm keeping my parents and family away from it.

I can't stand people saying this. just because you're a little more technological doesn't mean you should force people around you to use what you want them to use

let them make their own decision on whether or not they like Windows 8 if they happen to get a new computer

I stopped when he started crying about the weather application popping up and not knowing how to close it facepalm

As a first time user of Windows 8 how was he suppose to know how to close it.. seeing how all the menu's to do so are HIDDEN!

I agree it requires some (less than the ribbon) learning on the users part. But this is apparently completely stopping him from using the os ?

It is frustrating when you try to do the simplest task and you have to stop and think. "Computer" is a great example/ I'm so use to clicking start / computer (i'm talking about defaults) ...on 8 I had to stop and think...oh I have to click on explorer then computer...or right click some crap. I liked start / computer.

Well I tend to agree with OP. This is the typical reaction of first 30 minutes on Windows 8. Mine was similar. No obvious sign of how to close those full screen apps, unclear how to trigger the charm bar, which in itself is not very well done, lack of start button is of course dismal decision - now I have to pin everything I want to the taskbar.

Sure after a longer use and countless google search I got most answers, and I downloaded a Start Menu replacement.

Windows 8 without Metro UI would be an ok system. But it is still largely a failed move IMHO on the UI part. There is no way I will deploy that in work place until some of its UI is improved. Windows 7 is here to stay.

This guy is an idiot. The only issue ive had with win8 is on the modern apps printers are listed under devices. that took me a few seconds to figure out. My wife just got a surface and she finds it tons easier to use than her mac book we basically just gave away.

if my family didn't expect me to be their technical support i wouldn't really care. Since i am my whole families technical support I think I should have a bit of pull. I've had zero software issues to resolve since getting everyone on windows 7. I'm not going to go back to answering inane question on how to do to basic **** that was obvious in the previous version.

Yeah, because how dare people have opinions that differ from your own. It's not like this is a discussion forum or something where people are meant to discuss their differing opinions.

I watched the whole thing a little bit ago. I wouldn't brush the whole OS off so quickly as he did, but I thought for the most part he's pretty spot on about a lot of the UI design problems with Windows 8. Especially if you try and look at it from the stand point of a pretty novice user.

He is just a stupid moron - Windows 8 might have some problems but his 4Cs are not those. It is not unusable by any standards.

I do say he's trying to hard to be Zero Punctuation, and fails miserably at it.

Alt + F4 wasn't introduced new in Windows 8. He is not a novice Windows user by his own admission.

You are not supposed to close them, W8 automatically suspends the modern apps, just like iOS. Just switch to a different app if you want to do something else.

I find it funny how all those who are complaining about this video say that they can't get passed 4 minutes or 8 minutes or whatever... they would probably be the same people who would save those of us who don't like windows 8 haven't givin it enough time....

An interesting point he made is the product key sticker, anyone know why thats gone? gonna be awfully difficult for me (and other computer technicians) to reinstall windows on faulty computers...

The video was horrible to watch. But the guy has a few points. Getting to the control panel is a pain in the ass using metro. You need to search what you want. In the beginning it was a bit weird for me. But I got used to it.

After using Windows 8 since launch I can say I like it in general. There are a few things that I don't like. One of them is the charms bar. It took me half an hour to find out how to turn off my pc. I prefered that they added it to the start screen with on my name with my picture (in the top-right corner). That makes more sense for me.

I am not missing the start menu though. You can see the start screen as a full screen advanced replacement of it.

      Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2, urges IT admins to prepare for release by Usama Jawad Windows 11 typically follows an annual update cycle, but Microsoft recently broke that tradition a bit by releasing a "26H1" version in the first half of this year as a "scoped" build for select new silicon PCs only. This version was not available for customers using 24H2 and 25H2 builds, as Microsoft is busy preparing version 26H2 for them, confirmed officially for the first time. In a Windows IT Pro blog, Microsoft has urged IT admins to prepare for the upcoming release of Windows 11 version 26H2. The company has confirmed that this will be a small enablement package (eKB) that will simply light up certain disabled features that are already present in the operating system's code base. This means that the "refined" Windows update and deployment experience will be simpler and quicker, with minimal disruptions, as the feature update will simply toggle a few flags rather than performing a complete replacement. Microsoft has explained that this is all possible because the standard Windows 11 releases share the same servicing branch and hence, the same source code. However, this also means that Windows 11 26H1 users won't be able to upgrade to 26H2 as that is a different branch, but this is something we have known for a while now. Similar to previous annual feature updates, Windows 11 26H2 will offer the following support cycles: 24 months of support for Home, Pro, Pro EDU, and Pro for Workstations editions 36 months of support for Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise, and Enterprise Multi-session editions Microsoft has not confirmed a concrete release date for Windows 11 26H2, but noted that it is "coming soon". If we go by the ongoing release cadence, we can expect it to begin rolling out in early October 2026. As such, IT admins have been encouraged to begin validating Windows Insider releases in the Experimental Channel, plan rollout rings, and strategize the utilization of their existing deployment tools.

Namely, we’ve updated the “All sound devices” page so: You now have the ability to change default devices from this page.       I agree with what I think you are saying, just not in the way you are saying it. Like any tool, the amount it represents your work is perorational to the effort you put into it. It is similar to why 2nd grade math students learning to add and subtract are not allowed to use calculators, but a high-school calculous student is. For the 2nd grader, that tool would completely replace the work they are doing, for the calculous student the same tool allows them to work far more effectively while in no way replacing their effort or knowable. If you spend 30 seconds writing a prompt, then the image that comes out is no more "yours" than if you found the same image with a Google Image search. However, many of these generative tools also support highly iterative processes that allow back and forth, and merging generated images with photos or human created images. I am sure you would agree that a human spending hours of time working on a project, even if AI was involved in the process, still reflects that human's work.

      I've always preferred this possibility. There is something that feels good about the idea that all matter in the universe will eventually come back together and maybe even result in another big bang. The idea that the universe would fizzle out over the eons and forever drift apart is a little depressing. I realize it is not logical to let a basic human desire for life to have a grand everlasting meaning change the way I feel about a scientific theory, but I am human, so that is how I feel :-).
