Oh the irony.
Considering the fact that we based Metro very loosely on LCARS - arguably the first chromeless UI - you'dve thought someone would've picked up on this sooner lol.
We? Even if you were paid/contracted by Microsoft, you never were a Microsoft employee from the looks of your About page. Please don't insinuate that you are a Microsoft employee on a site that covers primarly Microsoft/Windows news. Microsoft probably doesn't want you claiming to be one of their employees and you shouldn't represent a company you do not work for as if you do.
As you say in your own blog

I did a fair few concept designs for Microsoft a decade ago, some of which managed to find their way into Windows Vista and 7, much to my delight haha. At the moment I’m primarily a landscape/architectural photographer specializing in photorealism through HDR capture and postprocessing workflows.

Okay, I can’t use the term “we” to refer to Microsoft anymore, but I still have a rough idea of how things work, so here’s the answer to that endlessly repeated question – and rather often demand – of why can’t we disable metro / why don’t you bring back the Start Menu?
