Most repubs are just faking any empathy towards anyone but the rich. Whats even more amazing, is nearly half of americans bought it.

I don't think he realized that people cared more about social issues rather than getting the country back on track. And since his views weren't exactly promoting equality, it blew up and hurt him badly.
