I have really loved the iPhone experience. Its an easy to love device. The "less is more" adage is strong with IOS. In my tags I had that I have a 3gs, but have been using a iPhone 4 for the last 5 months. I have used Android 2.2 in the past back a year ago and hated using that phone. It was slow, clunky, confusing, laggy, and just not enjoyable which made me appreciate the iPhone that much more. Well, 2 months ago i switched cell companies. I didn't get a a new phone because was happy with iPhone but learned that the new company takes 10% of your bill and applies it as a credit to a new phone anyways to I decided to get a new phone to try.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy 2X. Dual 1.5Ghz, 1 gig ram, 4.5" screen, and ICS. I can tell you it seems Android has come along way since 2.2. The phone is very nice to use. I still don't like the extreme amount of customization one must do to get it "just right" but over all i am liking it. To be honest, i wish iPhone would just come out with a larger screen and for cheaper but this still is a nice phone. It has a very good value for someone who doesn't have the money for a high end phone. For me, I paid $88 (no contract but have to pay off $162 with 10% of my bill every month) PLUS got back $100 gift card from WalMart.

Just want to piont out that I strongly say that if you a big "webcam" person and like to chat face-face with people, FACETIME from APPLE is VERY VERY much superior to google+ hangouts and skype. The difference is so big I am shocked that google and skype are THAT much behind apple in that area. I cringe looking at anything but facetime now, I can use my iPad for it but just wish the others were as good as it.

Side note: alot of the reviews say the battery is the weak point in this phone, while it may be true, its not a bad battery. I charge nightly, and at end of day I have 20% battery left with moderate usage with maybe only 20 minutes talk or so. I would say its real weakness is looking at the screen at an angle. Not good.

End note: I would love it if this phone had IOS6, but will get used to it eventually. For now though, I am presently surprised at how much I like it.

I prefer Facetime as well. It is a shame that Google+ and Skype are not on the same level. Especially considering Apple was late to the game with Facetime, but they really did "nail it".

I like Google+ hangouts more than Skype. Too bad I can't convince my wife to install Google+ on her EVO 4G. She says it slows it down too much and eats her battery.

About a week ago, i bought a galaxy s2 x with ICS and tried to get used to it. I just can't. I love the bigger screen but the phones operation is very cumbersome, its confusingly feature rich, tries to hard, and is a battery hog. It almost feels like they are purposely trying to make things hard to use. Will be going back to iPhone 4. I don't need new, just good.

What's so complicated about it? I been using Android since 2.1 and its lightyears ahead of iOS imo, even back in the 2.1 day. 2.2ish was buggier for sure, but more feature rich. 4.0+ has been perfect for me. I would suggest though, You dont get the full value of an android device till you root and slap a custom rom on it. Same goes for iOS and jailbreaking. Maybe I like customization/features too much, but i find stock roms always have a little bit of bloat. Run Cyanogenmod 10/10.1 and youll really see android shine..or Buy a nexus.

When i use iOS i find it cumbersome personally, hitting walls where it lacks features is frustrating.

"Confusingly" feature rich? Tries too hard?

Not sure where to start. It's just you are not FAMILIAR with Android, it doesn't mean it's HARD TO USE.

And you should've asked around about which Android phone you should buy. The Samsung Galaxy II X is an AWEFUL phone:

But yes, from your description, you better stay with Apple.

    • Ford execs say they made a mistake when they replaced human engineers with AI by David Uzondu Ford recently announced that over the last three years, it's had to rehire about 350 "gray beard" engineers to mentor younger staff and reprogram diagnostic systems and AI tools that were failing to meet up to quality expectations. The company's VP of vehicle hardware engineering, Charles **** said that leaders overlooked the deep experience of veterans who survived many product cycles. **** admitted that simply replacing them with AI was a huge mistake, and that while AI is "a fantastic tool," it remains "only as good as the information you use to train it." The rehired engineers now run mandatory meetings to troubleshoot vehicles and reprogram automated engineering software and AI tools to prevent glitches before production. These technical specialists hunt for failure points before a part ever reaches the plant floor. This hands-on process prevents the massive recalls and defects that previously cost the company billions. CEO Jim Farley noted that this return to human oversight quickly decreased warranty coverages and recall costs. The change saves the automaker hundreds of millions of dollars as it aims to cut one billion dollars in expenses this year. In last year's JD Power Quality Survey, an annual study that measures the quality of a car during the first three months of ownership, Ford finished 10th among mainstream brands and scored below the industry average. But this year, JD Power ranked the automaker as the top mainstream brand, placing it above the likes of Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. Ford attributed this massive improvement directly to the expertise of these returned engineers. Ford's realization that AI cannot magically design and test quality vehicles without senior human oversight is just the tip of the iceberg. When Careerminds looked at companies that conducted AI-driven layoffs, researchers found out that 35.6% of those companies had to rehire more than half of the employees they previously fired. Another 32.7% had to rehire between 25% and 50% of them. In 2024, Sebastian Siemiatkowski, CEO of Klarna, proudly announced that its new chatbot was doing the work of 700 full-time customer service agents. As a result, the fintech company froze hiring and cut hundreds of positions. But by mid 2025, and into 2026, Klarna was scrambling to recruit human agents again because customer satisfaction had plummeted. It turns out, while AI is very good at answering basic questions like how to check an account balance, when faced with complex customer issues that require nuance, the thing usually resorts to the unhelpful, robotic corporate jargon we all know and love.
    • Free AI in IDEs is shifting to paid models Or you know, you could just learn to actually design and code apps, use frameworks to handle the repetitive parts and not use AI at all - and voila... free for life!
    • In a sane world US antitrust laws wouldn't even allow these companies to be in the position to be subjected to EU directives. As you say, better than oligarch nothing.
    • Apple reportedly has a second-generation iPhone Fold planned for 2027 Good grief, Apple hasn't even released a first folding phone and the Apple faithful is already obsessing over the sequel? Seriously people, go out and touch grass... because this level of obsession is borderline stalkery/neurotic.
