gameboy1977
hello everyone! I have a question about motherboard and CPU. I see that motherboard's stocket and CPU stocket must be match, right? here is the link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/AMD+-+3.40+GHz+Processor+-+Socket+FM2/1305218060.p?id=mp1305218060&skuId=1305218060 and http://www.bestbuy.com/site/MSI+-+Desktop+Motherboard/1305495522.p?id=mp1305495522&skuId=1305495522 does it make you sense? Thanks, Gameboy1977
lnmnky
The match in the sense that they are both Socket FM2, yes. Compatibility list: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/FM2-A55M-E33.html
gameboy1977
ok I was right about this too. thanks. can I add that new video card to the motherboard too? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/PNY+Technologies+-+GeForce+210+Graphic+Card+-+1+GB+DDR3+SDRAM+-+PCI+Express+2.0/4689804.p?id=1218508092178&skuId=4689804
Colin.B
Yes, that GPU will work with that motherboard you linked. The card is PCI - E so as long as your motherboard has a PCI E slot it will work.
Jason S. Global Moderator Posted January 10, 2013 Global Moderator Share Posted January 10, 2013 yes, you can, but you wont be doing much w/ that extremely old video card...
LaP
The integrated gpu coming with the AMD A4-5300 APU is likely as good as that old dedicated gpu.
Kalint
As a note, go to pcpartpicker.com or newegg.com for shopping PC parts. Otherwise, go to apple.com.

LaP
I understand, because I want to play star wars: the old republic on new computer soon. Sorry to say but you wont be playing SWTOR on this computer. It's a poorly coded game that require a fairly good computer. When i played the game i had a Core I5 750 overclocked with a XFX 6950 xxx and 4GB of ram and i could barely run the game at 1650x1080 resolution. It was playable but not totally smooth i actually had to turn some settings down. You could probably get along with the A4 (not sure can't find reviews of it) but this card is surely way too weak for SWTOR. If you can't afford a proper gpu maybe you could try to spend that 40$ on improving the APU. Maybe a A8-5600k could be playable at low res and low settings. Don't forget that the A serie of APUs comes with an entry level gpu. Adding an entry level dedicated gpu is mostly a waste of money.
gameboy1977
this laptop is really slow due to 4GB RAM memory card. I see memory 95 percent on my task manager. it is very bad! that why I will get 8GB RAM memory card for new PC. I use that game on window-mode. Colin.B
So you will be building a new desktop PC to play games like the Old Republic on, in windowed mode? What is the total amount you are wanting to spend? I cannot stress enough the importance of a better GPU.
gameboy1977
it will be total about $500 dollars also windows 7.

It is likely not powerful enough. Like i said SWTOR is a poorly coded game. http://www.overclock...for-gaming-test I actually have 4GB of RAM and i can get playable performance in all my games at max settings (670OC with my good old i5 750 overcloked). 8GB would maybe help for some games but not much. The gpu is where you need to put the money. Without a good one you wont get good results. For SWTOR anything under a 7850 will disappoint you. If you build a 500$ PC check this guide. http://www.tomshardw...puter,3364.html
gameboy1977
I see that hard drive says 320 GB on that website, so I will get 500 GB hard drive.

Well you don't have to build the exact same PC ;) It's a guideline on how much you should spend for each part. If you can find better for the same price then it's only good.
