A PUZZLE addict has finished one of the world's biggest jigsaws after 17 months of piecing it together.

Amanda Warrington sometimes spent several hours a day painstakingly compiling the 24,000 piece puzzle called Life: The Great Challenge.

The 14ft by 5ft work covers the entire rear wall of the 50-year-old's lounge in Madison Close, Yate.

When boxed the puzzle, released in March 2007, weighs an enormous 26 pounds ? almost two stone.

Life: The Great Challenge was officially recognised as the world's largest puzzle by the Guinness Book of Records, until 2011.

Unfortunately for Ms Warrington, who admits she loves a challenge, she doesn't have a wall big enough to cope with the new world record jigsaw.

Ms Warrington, who works for the Department of Work and Pensions, told The Post: "I just love a challenge. I must have done at least 50 puzzles before but I like doing the difficult ones like the mosaics, globes or the baked beans puzzle.

"I work full time so I was doing between 30 minutes and an hour each day but I have to admit sometimes I was staying up until 3am because I was getting addicted.

Ms Warrington was bought the giant puzzle by her sister.

"I saw it on the news and my sister bought it for me over the internet two years ago because the family all know what a puzzle addict I am," she said.

"Now that it is finished it totally dominates my front room. When the sun comes through the windows in the morning it has a very calming effect.

"The only other problem is that it is glued to the wall, so if I ever do move house I'll have take the wall with me."

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates.
