Android Texting problem

Recommended Posts

I converted from iphone to the Nexus 4 about 6-7 months ago and love it. However, I have a texting problem. I hope this is the right forum for some insight. I can text people and they can text me back EXCEPT for iOS users. When I text my Dad and Brother who have iPhones, their texts go to my iPad and not my Nexus phone. I went to AT&T and they told me I had to disable iMessage on the iPad, so I did and their texts still don't go to my phone. Am I missing something? Is there a setting on the Nexus? I find it so odd that I can't get someone with an iOS device to text me.

My guess is they're still messaging your Apple ID rather than your number. Tell them to enable the "Send as SMS" feature. It sends a SMS when iMessage isn't available. If that doesn't work, then they should remove your Apple ID from your contact information.

If possible do the following:

* Move your Micro SIM back to your iPhone

* Send an iMessage to one of your relatives with an iOS device

* Go to Settings->Messages and toggle iMessage to "Off"

* Send an SMS to one of your relatives with an iOS device. Make sure that it is "green" and not the iMessage "blue".

* Place the Micro SIM back in your Nexus 4

Apple should now have removed your Phone Number as being a usable iMessage address for you.

If you don't have an iPhone available anymore you will need to contact Apple over the issue as the issue is with their servers. Their servers are telling your relatives with other iOS devices to that your phone number is valid for iMessaging. Disabling it while active in an iPhone will tell the Apple servers to stop using that phone number for iMessages.

This is a know issue and Apple is not fixing it. I had the same issue where i sold my iPhone 4S and hence couldn't disable iMessages completely on my phone number and email address. After a few weeks, it got fixed automatically.

Check Apple Support forum btw, they have provided a few fixes for it.

    • I've not seen any controlled testing and, judging by Microsoft's mentality, within a year, they'll have added so much more bloat, it'll undo any perceptible latency benefit and we'll have boosted the CPU clocks for nothing.
    • It depends: heat soak is a thing. Initially on cold boot-up, the heatsinks & heatpipes are at ambient temp. After heatsinks & heatpipes warm up (through normal usage), they don't immediately cool to ambient temp when the load goes away. So their baseline is higher and the trigger point for fans is much less stress. Add a few more CPU spikes → it's too hot to stay at the same fan RPM → fans get triggered to start up up much sooner / get triggered to ramp much more quickly.
    • Can LibreOffice just shut up and worry about themselves and stop comparing themselves? Do we see Microsoft complaining about euro office?
    • Why should simply opening the Action Center ... require any significant amount of CPU cycles? Too many are ignoring the elephant in the room: today's CPUs may have similar clock frequencies to CPUs from a decade ago (~4 to 5 GHz), but they run with far higher performance per clock, even on the smallest E-cores. The Action Center is a static, minor desktop element. It ought to open instantly on any CPU made in the past 2.5 decades at even low clocks. Opening a program? Boost away. Unzipping a file? Boost to your heart's content. Right-clicking the notification area? This should be an ultra-efficient, low-impact event that opens instantly. Compare today's UI elements to Windows 7 UI elements. Today's UI elements hardly do anything more substantial or important or critical, yet now require modern-day processors to jump half a GHz to reduce their latency.
    • This is not an option lmao: it is part of the KB5094126 update, pushed to all users. There is no GUI to configure it. Reading the article should be required for commenting.
