What Do You Think About This HDR Photo?

yeah, because i didnt color correct nor color balance and i didnt take the picture :laugh:

but please, PLEASE show me a better version of the original without that HDR click on photoshop :shifty:

It's funny how some of you found the photos "awesome", while others did not. I guess it is true when they say that we all see color and art differently. You can't make everybody happy.

Or, if you want to go for the "not quite real" effect, take pictures of seemingly abstract things. For example, that car in the first photo is clearly well maintained, a photo of a reflection off of the car could look awesome in HDR. One of the most amazing parts of that command module are the very delicate structures which keep them together, a picture of that or one of the other odd engineering structures on it might make for a more interesting subject than just a straight shot of the module.

Just so you know, I am rather new at HDR so I think for someone who's never done it before, I think I am not doing that bad. ColorEfex 4 is not just push a button and that's it. It's more than that. I do and try different things. I am still learning. I appreciate your input and ideas.

See, look... I think the HDR thing has become cliche when it's overdone, and these are just skirting the line. HOWEVER, I really like them, and am a big fan of that style.

LOL...LOL...Like I said, I am just now learning HDR and how to master it and, yes, Florida is great. I live in Daytona Beach.

No. No Flickr. Just remember....The past is the past and you should always leave the past behind. If she is not with you right now, it's because it wasn't meant to be. You will find someone eventually so why not enjoy life and your freedom? There is plenty of time for true love and women. Enjoy the moment and make every bit of it worth it.

Not for nothing, but all of the advice given to this member was to make them better. If you put your art out there for public consumption, you have to have a thick skin.

Those of us who took the time to criticize it did so to make them better, not to knock them down, although it may appear that way, that was not my intent, and based on how they presented their comments, I do not feel it was the intent of anyone else who had criticisms either. None of us just simply stated "it sucks," in fact I went out of my way to say I felt it was a very good start, and that they were better than your average persons, however they do have a long way to go to get to that next level.

Do I have to share the fact I graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in Illustration? That I have done art my entire life? That I have actually held positions during my career as an Art Director? Perhaps I do to make it known my intent was not malicious, however it comes off as pretty pompous IMHO doing so, so I would much rather just offer my advice and move on.

However since I have shared this fact, you know what my schooling (and every other person who attended an art school) primarily consisted of?

Getting an assignment, putting it up at the beginning of class, and then have everyone, including the professor, critique it.

It was not to make people feel worse about themselves, it was to make them better artists.

it is how the art world operates. Artists critique other artists work in order to make that person better.

Sure, you will come across the occasional idiot who always has nothing positive to say, but that is an unresolved personal issue with that person. You are going to find idiots everywhere, that is the nature of the beast so to speak.

So a thick skin is absolutely needed and required if you are going to put your art out there for people to comment on.

Chances are when sharing your art on a forum such as Neowin, the majority of the people may even have nothing but positive comments to say, but chances are also very good they themselves are not artists, so any type of art is impressive to them as they cannot do it.

For the minority who may comment who are indeed artists, they can either not say nothing, or they can choose to say something in an effort to try and help that person get better at what they are interested in pursuing.

So yeah, if all people want is praise, just show it to your family and friends and let them tell you how good you are. Believe you me, I know they are good for it.

However if you want to become a better artist, my best advice is to immediately get a thick skin, and take the advice you are given, when it is presented in a constructive manner, in order to try and further your skills.

I believe they are true HDRs. I used Color Efex Pro 3 for Adobe Photoshop to do it.

You made them form a single RAW file didn't you ? then it's pseudo HDR. technically simple tonemapping. a single RAW while it has far more dynamic range than visible, does not have enough range for a true hdr. True HDR needs 3 exposures, 5 would be better but I doubt you'd need it for most cases.

In any case None of these images no matter how many exposures are HDR pictures, they're all tone mapped pictures. we can't really see HDR pictures as true HDR pictures mean pictures with light range outside of what you can show on the screen, and only have practical use in 3D rendering today as combined backgrounds and soft light sources.
