I just bricked my phone...

I was trying to root my phone for a project and uni ... and something went wrong...my phone is now a brick... is there anyway I can fix this?

"firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please elect recovery mode in Kies & try again"

samsung i take it from the message about Kies

do you get any options when connecting it to Kies?

I am about to plug it into kies ... buttt lets see if it does anything :/ ried it on mates laptop did nothing

well it started to root then it froze on rooting and now im just stuck

You'll have to use ODIN, the Samsung flashing tool.

You probably won't have clockworkmod installed but its basically the same operation.

Of course it works, modern phones are pretty much impossible to brick just by flashing ROMs or rooting, as long as you can access "download mode" which none of these ROMs or Recovery Images touch then you can always return it back to stock firmware.

well i know its possible! but I barely know the steps of rooting a phone let alone resetting it up! i just needed someone to show me the way its impossible if i just had to guess I was searching around for a jelly bean cryogen mod to try and port it as its the only thing I knew of

As long as you can get back into download mode, youre fine. Just bust out odin and download the factory rom from xda and youre golden.

Heres a great video showing all the steps to root or unroot.
