Yeah, having a major issue with Chrome right now, even with addons disabled. Started just the other day when I installed BitDefender, but I've since removed BD, and I'm still having an issue with it.

Basically gets to running at 25-30%, pushing my processor from 38ºC to 56-58ºC. Pages become very slow to load as well, making the internet just about unbearable. In the Chrome task manager, only the Browser is utilizing the heavy CPU usage, not anything else. No clue what could be causing this.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Have you tried a clean install of Chrome as well? Or have you tried a 2nd user account in Chrome to see if that makes any difference?

Got it all worked out. I think it was actualy BitDefender that caused a few issues. Problem is resolved. Apparently, the promotional keys for BitDefender were revoked too. No biggie, and at least I know what antivirus I don't want to use now.

Thanks though!

Webroot has been fine in my VMs..... I also recommend Sophos as well. It's improved.
