Oh, I thought it meant you can install Windows 7 on the Surface Pro hardware, lol

technically, you can, it is a UEFI system, which windows 7 supports

Ya, was just surprised it would be something they would advertise, since they're trying to push Windows 8.

Backwards compatibility with an absurd amount of software makes it a pretty good selling point for the Surface Pro, be silly not to advertise that.

I get that, but just in this ad it doesn't seem obvious to me that is what they were selling. It just seems like they were saying "Windows 7" on Surface Pro rather than "Windows 7 Apps" will run on Surface Pro.

I dunno, I thought "Windows 7 Compatible" was pretty self explanatory and a pretty good selling point... I didn't infer that it actually had 7 installed, but maybe that's just me since I've seen the thing a bajillion times on the web, TV, etc.

What I would of thought as well. When Vista came out, they had Windows Vista compatible stickers on systems that were being sold before the Vista release.

Yea I also got that the hardware itself was windows 7 compatible and could be bought for running 7.
