Stream line-in input to local LAN

Question

Hey Guys,

I am looking for a small or portable app that can grab the line-in on a sound card and run a local stream/webserver with applet or similar to rebroadcast back out where other users can just load a link in their browser and listen to the stream live.

Any suggestions?

Tried VLC, works, but has some issues.

1: You have to setup the stream/transcoding EVERY time you start it, no way to save.

2: It's pretty unstable, stream just dies after a couple of hours and VLC.exe hangs, so you have to force close it in task manager and start it over again.

Any tutorials on setting up the stream?

When you're setting up your profile after first launch, don't encode to file, but rather choose a port to stream on. It's all in the same settings tab.

Choose your audio source as line in. Make sure your firewall has the port you chose to stream on open.

ScannerCast looks interesting. If it's stable it might be better than WME.

Yeah we'll see, it's very light weight, and it is up and running in just a few seconds.
