I have to do an original research paper and I'm going to do it about New York times stories on video games in the news (such as bills/laws, relation to shootings, etc) from Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2012. The problem I'm having is filtering my search results down to a reasonable number. I've tried Google and LexisAcademic but I've been unable to get anything short of 500 articles. Ideally I would like 100. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. :)

what is wrong with only taking the 1st 100 of the 500 results?

there are articles written that will help you search, narrow or filter the results of a search. its sounds like you need to start there. googleguide

Well when I search Google, I have found alot of the articles in the first few pages have no mention to video games and they only appear because of a link to another story about video games.
