KALAMAZOO, MI (AP) — Talk about junk in the trunk.

A public safety officer checking a suspicious car parked behind a southwestern Michigan motel early Tuesday was more than a little surprised when a deer climbed out of the trunk, stumbled onto the road and bolted into nearby woods.

TV stations WWMT, WZZM and WOOD report that the driver told Kalamazoo officer David Miller he hit the deer on the road — thought he had killed it — and was taking it home for his family to eat.

Squad car dashboard camera footage shows Miller opening the trunk, then quickly trying to close it as he spots the deer. The animal escapes from the trunk, rear first, stumbles and rolls, then dashes off.

Lt. Stacey Geik says the collision probably just stunned the deer.

lol reminds me of a story Alan Robson from Metro Radio told, him and his friends were driving a van along a country road at night and hit a sheep, they put it in the back of the van and drove off to find the farmer, the sheep wasn't dead, woke up and started going mental in the van so they stopped and let it out

He said he hopes no-one saw 3 guys letting a sheep out the back of a van in the middle of the country at night

Reminds me of the movie Tommy Boy where Chris Farley and David Spade pickup a dead dear and put it in the back of Dave's classic car. (forget the model) The Deer woke up and tore apart the car. Funny scene.

The deer was only stunned after it heard them talking about having it for dinner. :p

Shouldn't you shoot it first before putting it in your trunk?
