You don't need to test that if you are doing animation, level building, texturing, etc..

Since when is animation development?

If a Developer is not considering and able to test during development a key security feature (for arguments sake) then their cycle is fundamentally flawed.

so no new xbox for me then, i will buy me another 360... cause for sure the requirement of online connection is only there to check for possible copied games...

Well since the other half of the rumor is that you can play without the disc and all games must be installed. How else would you do that...

like i do it with the 360 maybe... there also half part of the game gets installed on the disk. if the 720 only offers downloadable games, that will make them lose even more users, thats for sure.

I'm half convinced a Sony marketing team are their sources. This **** is comedy gold and I don't understand why anyone would believe it.

Not if you can buy the digital download on a disk for installing. And you can't play without the disk on the 360

Also if it's there just for a piracy check, how does that affect you? I'm assuming you pay for and play your entertainment legally, so it doesn't affect you. If you don't, we'll then I have no pity for you.

Where did they say you can play without the disk, they don't allow it with the current Xbox after you install the game, they just said mandatory installs which doesn't mean you don't need the disk.

atm nothing microsoft does affects me. not only i am a linux user on my pc and android user on my smartphone but i also gave the 360 away as a gift to someone few weeks ago.

but: i remember well that the reason for many to get a 360 was the fact that, different to the ps3, you could flash the rom-drive. to make it spin slower for example and reduce the noise of the console. this, however, was equal to running piracy games for ms leading to a lot of bans from xbox live....

also the fact that you could make a - still legal - private copy of your legally bought xbox games - and in case the dog or a child destroys the originial, you were not lost..

if microsoft gives that up with the new xbox i see users go. simple as that.

You know, it would be funny if Microsoft's Marketing department purposely did this to hype the news before the Console releases. Think about it, if it was just leaking all the good news, people would not discuss much, there would not be as much flames spreading across the internet. Any news, be it bad or good, is marketing for Microsoft. So could it be just a "free" marketing tool Microsoft is using? Maybe... Because unless Microsoft is full of retarded people, they will not copy what EA did with SimCity.

(That's the Fanboy in me talking)

I really hope my logical conclusion about this is true, otherwise, as a supporter for the XBOX, I will not buy the next one. That means more money for my pocket :)

I subscribe to the theory that 'all press is good press' is a load of crap. Trying to sabotage interest in your upcoming product just to have a laugh when it's over would get your marketing team fired.

Not fussed, if I end up getting a PS4 or 360, it'll be years away. PC and my back catalog of consoles does me fine for gaming :)

I think there has been a bit of an over-reaction with people comparing it to sim city. Xbox Live very rarely has downtime and has never been down for a long duration. It only poses a problem if you don't have internet access or your internet access goes down. But I will happily trade this always online if we can play games without having the disc, I've wasted hundreds of pounds over the years having to buy a new copy of a game because I've lost or damaged the disc.

MS needs to address this sooner rather than later, since we know how rumors tend to act online.

YEah, NOONE modified their console to reduce the speed of the drive or to play actual backups. they modified to play pirated games. and that small sub percentage of users won't be missed by MS or the publishers.

I thought you said you didn't have a 360, you bought one for your friend. and last I checked you didn't say you actually modified it, so I didn't accuse you of anything other than what you yourself wants to read into it.

no i had an xbox360, but gave it away as birthday gift to my 10 years old nephew 2 weeks ago.

but still, you started with this pirating ****, not me. sadly it just shows how the brainwashing of anti-piracy agencies seems to work fully with people like you.

not everyone wanna playing copied games is a criminal. actually, just the knowledge that in case your original bought game gets stolen, broken or lost, you still have the copied save-game there and can play it, makes everyone feel better. and if microsoft just blocks that possibility, lots of users will be gone. ofc. there are still hardcore ms fanboys who will do and follow anything the ballmer-guru tells them. i never was a fan of following someone blindly and undisputedly. but thats a matter of personality and character at the end of the day.

To all the morons here that see it as "no biggie", especially the retards with the Xbox Live avatards and signaturds, pop your heads out of your ass for a second and think a little bigger than your simpleton "I have a stable connection and I'm rich so no worries" approach and think what happens in 20 years when you want to replay your favorite game but MS has shut down the servers because there are already 3 generations of console ahead. Are you seriously that thick in the head?

Oh wait, why would you want to do that anyway? I see the error of my logic. Who would want to replay the "classics" such Gears of War clone 128731289379 or Halo or Call a Doody 1239871203896712089376120938671293867?

**** you. **** you and **** your entire "gaming" generation. You are a shame for humanity.

So what? Do you want me to not buy the console I enjoy the most because they impose a restriction the majority of gamers can deal with and that I personally can manage? Cry me a river dude.

Nah. It's more so how you're so desperately trying to make this rumor seem like it'll be the best thing to ever happen to gaming if it comes true and how microsoft is doing something great by potentially implementing things that noone actually wants.

You do realize that the majority of gamers are already always connected all the time. I wouldn't agree with going that direction, but fact is it really wouldn't change much.

No, I just don't see how it's a problem, and I can see a lot of possibilities.

As for something no one really wants, people have wanted to be able to play without the disk and to be able to download and play their games since the 360 launched. It's some of the most requested features.

What noone wants is the always online crap.

As for downloading games... that sounds nice in theory, until you remember the fact that microsofts servers are usually slow as hell at downloads. And I don't know about you but i sure don't want to download blu-ray sized games if their servers stay as poor at serving up content as they are now(and have been since i got a 360 in 2011).

Not sure I understand what you're getting at. All you need is an internet connection, which you and most gamers already have, not extra money or anything else.

The difference is, if I turn my router off, my 360 and all of my games still work just fine. I just can't see friends online or sync achievements. Not being able to play your games without internet IS a big deal to a lot of people.

For what reason would you turn your router off? It's not that big of a deal - people just like to make it a big deal because it sounds like a large inconvenience when it really isn't. People don't turn their connections off and I'd be willing to bet Microsoft has 7.5 years worth of data to prove just that, from every single person that has a 360.

I would still like to point out that I don't think the rumor is true - I don't see any huge benefit to them by implementing it.
