downloaded overnight, installed this morning, I'll give it a go when I get home. Anyone got in yet? I hear the queue's are ridiculous!

Ridiculous indeed. I'm #5972 in queue...

And this is during the day when people are at work... looks like it's going to be worse tonight!

I'm really enjoying it so far. A little too Guild Wars for me at times. Beyond the queue issues from only launching with three shards, it really wasn't that bad. Maybe 20min to get in last night then played for 4+ hours solid with little lag or bugs.

Started a Control Wizard, rogue next.

Started on my first Foundry level last night. Why oh why is this the first MMO to add this feature? The way they encourage/pick it in game is ######. I love the rolling events and the combat system.

Its almost everything I wanted in DDO 2.0 (even in its neutered/action state) :) Even the bazaar in NW has the life that they were never able to infuse, even after several redesigns.

I'm glad I came into this game blind.lots of nifty little surprise so far and the combat is fun. Only problem with it is the limited class selection but so far the guardian fighter its a cool class. Have a control wizard made as well for a trial run on that. Rolling stats is something more mmos should employ IMO.

This game is amazing. Currently have a level 12 Control Wizard and a level 5 Trickster Rogue. The classes are great, the combat is meaty, spells don't feel like just a total spamfest, but rather focused, and easy to determine how to best get out of the way of them should you be in the path of destruction. It's not overly hard, nor is it a breeze. Leveling feels quite right, and definitely not a miserable experience.

Oh, and the opening to the game: very very well done tutorial that doesn't nag this living crap out of you, tells you what you need to know, and gets out of your hair. From there, the game does a great job of walking you into your class. I'm very surprised at this, as it isn't just a "dive in and survive", but rather great for people new to MMOs or D&D as well. You don't really have to spend too much time reading about the game before you can figure out what you're doing.

Queues are already gone from what I've seen, or they've increased the load. I realize this is more of a soft launch, but I have to say it's been better than so many other MMOs as it stands. No, there won't be any wipes either from this point.

Queuing for dungeons is pretty damn awesome too, right out of the box.

Downloaded last night, installed this morning. I have to go to the in-laws tonight but when I get home I'm escaping to neverwinter. I have just two questions:

1) Is it holy trinity?

2) Is it classic builds? like dex, sta, str, mag or are builds based on something like traits or skills like GW2?

It is holy trinity, but much less strict I would say. There's room for customizing builds and characters, e.g. DPS tanks and things of that nature. Basically, whatever ideas spark your interest in attempting.

Which brings me to #2: you can build your stats, as well as your abilities that you like using. You roll for your initial stats, and can customize from there. I'm still in the early stages of building my character, but it's quite fun already seeing as I've fallen in a direction I like which is to control the mobs. There are some really awesome abilities, which makes the combat feel really solid as your character plays out their animation for the spell to blast an enemy back, freeze them in place, or choke them in the air. Lots of fun stuff!

Makes for great meaty combat that you'd see in Diablo III or Torchlight 2, except in a true MMO fashion.

Ah, good. I actually disliked GW2 for removing that aspect.

Ah excellent. This alone has sold me on it (not that it cost money). I can't wait to give it a try tonight!

Thanks for the answers.

Control Wizards rock - even better, they are not limited to specific races; my CW is Dwarven. (The Harbinger found out - the hard and fatal way - that underestimating a Dwarf is fatal to your health.) While a Control Wizard doesn't have the range of, say, an Archer, a CW does have some decent range on spells; however, he can also mix it up in a furball (not exactly typical for spellcasters). If you prefer spells to typical bladed fighting, a Control Wizard may suit you right down to the ground - it certainly suits me.

I'll likely get some more time in Friiday through Sunday (other things from Real Life are getting in the way).

Exactly - I didn't expect that a CW that is a Dwarf would even be allowable, let alone buildable. What I am looking to do now is build up the spell variety for mob-control purposes (basically force the baddies close together so they can be sliced and diced properly) so the party members that wield blunt and pointy objects can get busy, while also adding some healing spells (again, to heal or buff-up those that excel in furballs). If I have the fourth rules understood rightly, most of those baddies that are less vulnerable to spells are vulnerable to arrows and BFT (or vice-versa); the Harbinger is a prime example - it eats BFT for breakfast, but spells can discommode it. (BFT = Blunt Force Trauma; hammers, swords, arrows, etc.)

Rogues are handling quite nicely as well, but considering some people may shy away from Guardian or Cleric, I'll post some interesting guides for those that are interested.

Guardian:

http://nw-forum.perf...-PvP%29-content

Cleric:

http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?178392-The-Devoted-Cleric-Guide-to-Healing

http://nw-forum.perf...stik-s-build%29

Keep in mind some of those may not be optimal for leveling, but if you're stuck at work or at home downloading the game, it may be a good read if the classes sound up your ally. I think my next character will be a guardian, then cleric.

Honestly, I think this game came way the hell out of left field. I did not expect to have this much fun with a F2P game...

I noticed that (though i still went with a boring HE, I thought the two other race additions was interesting too). While the spell selection isn't as meaty as it was in DDO, it feels satisfying. I'm torn on the lack of a true glass cannon, but I always prefer crowd control anyways. Its a nice mix that the starting daily power for the CW is the get in the middle variety.

I agree dead, this one had completely fallen off my radar. It even starts kinda rough and bland, at the 15min point I was still meh about it, then suddenly it was 2 in the morning. ;)

Played it for about two and a half hours today, really enjoying it so far! I've played WoW quite a bit and GW/GW2 as well but always felt they were kinda slow, this is far better for me, actually being encouraged to move while fighting just makes the game so much more fun IMO.

Hit a snag though, logged out in Blacklake District and went to log back in but now the game hangs while loading that char :( Sent in a ticket so hopefully get it resolved soon, in the mean time I'm going to go and try the other classes, went for a Great Weapons Fighter to start with since I'm a sucker for bulky plate armor and huge swords (inb4 compensating for something else :p) but think I'll try a control wizard next :D

Ohh also I've never played D&D in my life and I'm pretty much a scrub at RPing so was wondering if anyone could give me any tips for my bio? Only spent a couple of minutes on it :p

Abandoned as a child Arunath was raised by a group of adventurers, constantly on the road he learned by blade not book. One night he awoke to a terrible sound, a dragon hung in the air silhouetted by the moon and was raining a fiery hell down upon their camp, somehow the flames did not touch him. As he watched the lives of his friends being taken from them he prayed to Tempus that he may have the strength to one day kill the dragon. After what seemed a millennia, hungry and alone, he stumbled into Luruar and after a fateful encounter was taken under the wing of a mercenary named Horogar. With him he traveled the world helping those in need, for the right price of course, but he never forgot his true goal, to kill the dragon.

I think one of the things I like the most, especially in pvp, is how it stops/slows your character when performing actions.

I've put a small chunk into this game now. My main is a Devoted Cleric and it's pretty fun. I can't say much more passed that since I'm only level 15 or 16 and still pretty new to the game. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Playing a rogue elf and so far am enjoying it a lot. Still on the tutorial section but I like the mix of WoW/GW2 feel for me. Plus, always enjoyed the Neverwinter lore/setting. We'll see how long I stick with this as I tend to lose interest (was so hype for GW2 and just fell out of it after a month or two).

How is the PvP? One of my friends loves PvP from GW1 but hates GW2 so I'm hoping this one might whet his appetite. My name is Festus playing on Dragon shard.

It's not the most balanced but it feels quite enjoyable. I heard people saying Control Wizards suck in PvP, but I love screwing around with people and keeping them locked down with my spells. Bonus points if you can find yourself a nice ledge to sit atop and rain havoc from above lol. I'm giving Cleric a go as it stands and so far they are quite amazing! My friend is a Guardian Fighter and he's loving all the stun locks he's dropping on people. Rogues certainly don't need any help with that said.

PvP still requires at least some sort of strategy. A lot of people are new to the game, but I can't imagine people being new to the idea of fighting on the objective... Some things never change I suppose. That aside, PvP goes in brackets as far as I can tell, similar to that of WoW. However, say you're in the 10-19 bracket: it will bump everyone to level 19. I kind of like this myself, as it helps keep people on an even playing field, without the gaps being so drastic as you might experience in GW2 being bumped all the way to level 80.

I think what I find interesting is how user friendly it is. Don't be afraid to queue up for a skirmish or PvP. No one is going to yell at you or anything, just click your buttons, stay out of fire, and have fun. :)

I know this may sound stupid, but for all the MMOs I've played, the one thing I love about this game is that I don't have to mess with the UI at all, and I only change ONE keybinding (I flip B and I). I hate having to configure UIs and settings when I want to play...
