Swaziland has launched a crackdown on high-flying witches after banning them from hovering above 150metres.

It has been a long time since witches were burnt at the stake in Europe but the accusation remains a serious one in the landlocked African country.

Anyone caught flying their broomstick above the height limit faces arrest and a hefty R500,000 fine, the country

I had wondered where all the witches went, since it's rare to see one in my neck of the woods these days. Now I know.

This must be their king (or whoever approved of this legislation) :D

I guess this makes sense. A witch getting sucked into a jet engine probably isn't pretty.

remember, safety first.... Falling off a broom at 150' would prove fatal to a human, even a witch I imagine.

Well i'm surprised they didn't do it sooner. They're a total menace.

What is the rule on Wizards? I bet Harry Potter is bricking it.

Seems logical. The biggest problem with witches these days is how high they fly and the way they interfere with aeroplanes and such. Not a day goes by that we don't hear of planes going down due to broomsticks and black hats being caught in the turbines. Good on you, Swaziland. About damn time someone took a stand.

Hogwarts may have to have some of their field trips in another country then.

I agree Charisma, but I also think there should be some for of legislation on the table concerning zombies. I haven't looked at the actual statistics but I bet far more zombies are run over by automobiles compared to witches being sucked into turbines.

Edit: And why is this in "It's a Conspiracy?" This is RWI all the way. :p

The sad part is that **** like this is the reason why HIV is so rampant in Africa. A complete lack of education when it comes to anything practical and instead they're more interested in folklore.

I'd find this more amusing if I didn't know that kids accused of witchcraft in Africa can be buried alive, have boiling oil/water thrown on them, shot, tortured etc.

This law should only apply until they can gain a Broomstick Pilot License

can't we just put a transponder on the broomstick so it has a responding radar signature?
