**Guide**Emoji Support Built into Nexus 4 (Nexus Branded devices) How To

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I recently searched the forms and have noticed that some users were asking for extended Emoji support for Android. While this is currently a work in progress, so far this feature has been successfully executed on the Google Nexus 4. Although the process might be streamlined onto other Nexus devices, I have currently only tested this on the Nexus 4. I am also looking to see how this can be ported to other Android devices.

NOTE: This guide dose not require a custom ROM, Rooting or a third party SMS cleint.

There are a few set backs.

1. All emojis are black and white

2. I have found a few are missing. You will see in my screen shot. It is really only a few.

3. You need to quickly switch between keyboards (it is not as much of a pain as you think, follow the screen shots) I have gotten use to it quickly.

- Mods I am not trying to promote my Website, I simply just didn't want to upload all the screen shots for the how to guide on here. I want to post it here so I can help users and get feed back.

Visit the link below for a complete how to guide:

Or you could install a keyboard that already enables them...

which would be? a lot of people use swift key or stock.

Not really sure how swift key has the ability to send them? Show me a screen should if you can. I'm talking emoji's not simple smileys such as :) : (

Swiftkey displays them as simple ascii smileys in the list, but they are sent and displayed as emoji in the sms client.

Screen shot of how the Emoji keyboard looks. As you can see, it gives you all the Emoji's not just the standard smileys. However I understand what your saying.
