XBOX ONE can record videos without share button

Recommended Posts

The XBOX ONE allows you to share gameplay videos without disrupting our gameplay haing to click an awkwardly placed button on the controller.

You can either use the kinect and just tell it to record, or the ame developers wil be able to automatically record videos when they know something cool will happen, or they detect something cool has happened.

"We're going to give game developers access so they can actually go out there and record your magic moment for you because they'll be likely to know when something epic is about to happen in the game," Kilgore said. "Single-player [moments] or it could be something like you just make 10 head shots in a row. Something really cool is happening, and you're on a rampage, I'm going to grab a magic moment for you because I'm smart enough to detect that, you know, you're capturing the flag and and your last 10 yards before you get to the base sort of thing."

I will always prefer clicking a button then say smth like "XBOX ONE record".

Its faster and you know its going to work.

And move my fingers away from more important buttons? No way.

Also, they said it's an option, the game can record on it's own if you want it to it sounds like, which I think is kinda cool.

Wonderful. Can I also yell xbox power off when I walk into someones house and have their system shut off mid-game, or do I have to use my smart phone to record them saying it then just replay the sound clip??

Either way constantly yelling at the system to do stuff like start skype calls and open internet explorer will be fun when I'm at a gaming friends place...

I also think this is bulls*** as the system knows what happened in the game and just recreates it, i doubt it actually 'detects awesome' and records it before happening.

It records constantly, and saves the buffer when a "magic moment" occurs or is detected by one of the methods the game can implement to do it.

So 500GB will be full in like 5 minutes.

Anyone with a full HD PVR will tell you how wrong that is.

I'm also sure you'll have to go in after the gamign session and tell it what "Magic moment" clips you want to actually keep, or they will be delected as the allocated space runs out.

You can probably record manually by clicking the guide button and selecting save this as well if you would rather spend 5-10 seconds doing that instead of just telling it to record with no pause.

the Kinect also recognizes different people and don't allow malicious voice commands.

So, are you currently walking into friends houses and picking up a spare controller to interrupt their gaming? If not then why would you suddenly be a d**K with voice commands, that's gonna get real old real quick.

Also, detecting awesome would be very easy - things like were mentioned "you are 1 kill away from a 10 kill streak, it starts recording" or off my own head stuff like you jump off a ledge and the system knows your about to see an enemy and might get a great shot in - record. These things wont be too hard to do in all honesty.

They don't have spare controllers for me to do that as its stands now :( Considering I am the controller with the X1, new possibilities arrise.

Honestly MS shouldn't even allow what I said above to happen, nevermind if I wanna be a d*ck or not.. Voice recognition should detect WHO is saying it not that it was said, and act on that... If what I said above IS true then hell, if my windows are open someone on the street walking by would be able to shut the system down! Im pretty sure MS has thought of this and acted accordingly. I hear kids mock their parents all the time when at their place playing games.. wouldn't be hard for them to get the hang of saying xbox off/xbox on, just to watch any lights and camera movement... Kind of like a cat who just discovered flushing the toilet.

I'm also gonna go with constantly recording everything, maybe to a 5GB constantly filling buffer or the cloud, and letting you see what it determined as 'awesome' by cutting a clip from that buffer, rather than detecting and recording *if* something awesome happens.

Like I said, it would get real old real quick and if it was my house I'd just tell you to f**k off, seriously its like you picking the TV remote up and turning it off while playing - just not funny.

It doesn't just use audio alone, it does take other things into account. It knows who you are and does log you in automatically so it IS using face recognition, it is checking to see if you're looking at the TV or not, if not then it'll ignore you. It does also check to see if you are holding a controller when a game is playing or not so I'm sure it does take that into account as well.

Long story short, if it can tell who I am and log me in then it can tell I'm the one giving it commands and not someone else.

No its not. Its not like that at all. The console turning off and the TV turning off is vastly different when playing a game on the console. You simply can't just turn the console back on and resume like if a TV was turned off. Well, maybe you can. PS4 will allow that. (tks geohot)

Either way its a pipe dream as mentioned as the kinect sees you and your mouth move, isn't hard to line that up to who's saying what.

Guessing you've not read anything about Kinect then. That's exactly what it does.

it also uses the array mice to tell where you are.

Actually both next gen consoles use S4 sleep save states.

So if I am at a buddys house, and he is playing. Then he has to go out for a bit or has to do something, and I don't want to play I can't tell it to shut off the console? I have to use the controller instead?

Wait what???????

I doubt that, if he gets up and leaves then it'll know he's not engaged in the game, it should then allow you to take control.

I'm sure we'll know all the details in time, either at E3 or leading up to it as more information comes out.

I am sure Xbox One doesn't run on magic dust. It requires power and you will be able to push a power button of sorts. Failing that, you can always you know...unplug it.

    • But they will be the first asking for a bail out the moment crap goes sideways. Its just a matter of time with this AI thing unless skynet gets us first.
    • I'm so conflicted with the Google Search AI summaries. On one hand I don't like how it's harming smaller websites by greatly reducing traffic which will harm us all in the long run but on the other hand those AI summaries often give me the information I'm after. I have never once clicked on 'show me more' though and never will.
    • Not a single company as small or large it may be is obligated to subsidize its products and sell them at a loss. Your way of thinking is socialist and as a West German with a German brother state but impoverished by state dictatorship and a socialist command economy situated to the East i can tell you - this kind of thinking very quickly leads to products not being produced anymore at all. EDIT: That does not mean that I find state support for social needs unreasonable. Quite the contrary. Together with solid workers' rights we exactly had exactly that in Germany for decades in the form of the Sozialstaat which was as the scandinavian social democratic very successful - until the number of people who drew from those resources dramatically increased (ironically a project of social democrat and green proponents).
    • Apple reportedly has a second-generation iPhone Fold planned for 2027 by Hamid Ganji The iPhone Fold is one of the most anticipated tech products expected to debut this fall. It will be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, ushering in a new product category for the company. While the first generation has yet to hit the shelves, a new leak suggests Apple has already begun work on its successor. Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station claims that the second-generation iPhone Fold has already been confirmed, meaning Apple could launch a successor in fall 2027. The foldable iPhone is also reportedly referred to as the “iPhone Ultra,” though it remains unclear whether Apple will ultimately choose that branding, especially as Samsung is rumored to rename the Galaxy Z Fold 8 as the Galaxy Z Fold Ultra this year. The leaker also claims that the second-generation foldable will feature a wider folding display while reusing the same screen found in the first generation. Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.3-inch outer screen in a passport-style form factor. It has already been reported that Apple plans to change its iPhone release cycle in 2026 to spread launches throughout the year. Under this strategy, the iPhone Fold is expected to debut this fall alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The standard iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 are expected to arrive later in 2026 or in early 2027. Speaking of the iPhone Air, Digital Chat Station says Apple remains undecided about a third-generation model. The company is reportedly waiting to see how the iPhone Air 2 performs in the market, and if sales disappoint, a successor may never materialize. As we reported this week, the iPhone Air has not been scrapped from Apple’s plans. The second-generation model is reportedly scheduled for spring 2027 and could introduce upgrades such as an additional rear camera for ultrawide photography and improved battery life.
