Neil Gaiman has denied reports of a Sandman movie announcement at San Diego Comic-Con International.

The writer took to Twitter to debunk the rumours of an adaptation of his seminal DC Comics/Vertigo series.

DC Entertainment head Diane Nelson recently listed The Sandman as one of the five properties she would like to see adapted to film.

Gaiman recently spoke about a previous failed script for a Sandman movie, saying that they "dodged a bullet".

The Sandman will return later in the year in a prequel Overture miniseries from Gaiman and JH Williams III.
