V-Tech
Solid report claims iPhone 5S will be available in gold, new 128GB option coming It certainly won?t be as gold as some iPhones, but a new report claims Apple?s next-generation iPhone 5S will be available in a new color for the first time since Apple moved from one color option to two on the iPhone 3G. Plugged-in KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo has a solid track record when it comes to scooping unannounced Apple devices and he?s back again ahead of Apple?s upcoming September 10th iPhone event. Remember those gold-colored SIM trays pictured in an exclusive BGR report back in May? Well Kuo says Apple is indeed planning to launch the iPhone 5S with a new gold color option. It won?t be quite as flashy as BGR?s gold iPhone, pictured above, but it could be a nice way to promote upgrades among current iPhone 5 owners. According to Kuo?s note, which was picked up by 9to5Mac, we can expect the following: (1) the new A7, ARMv8 based AP (application processor), featuring a 1GB LPDDR3 RAM chip; (2) a sapphire home button with fingerprint sensor; (3) main camera unchanged with 8MP, but featuring a larger F2.0 aperture with dual flash lights; (4) new option for golden casing; and (5) new option for 128GB storage. ?We reckon A7 will upgrade memory bandwidth spec to LPDDR3 from LPDDR2 adapted by A6, in an effort to improve system performance,? Kuo added. ?Since Apple is in charge of both hardware and OS design, it is capable of minimalizing memory capacity at an optimized state. Therefore, A7?s RAM will likely be unchanged at 1GB.? http://bgr.com/2013/08/16/iphone-5s-specs-gold-128gb/

Astra.Xtreme
It looks like Apple has once again skimped on the battery. That would be a little difficult seeing as the enclosure isn't changing. Regardless, the iPhone gets better battery life than most phones on the market. I can easily get 3 days of casual use on my 2 year old 4S.

Astra.Xtreme
Casing got smaller and lighter. 0.3mm thinner. Probably because of the different screen though. Edit: Nvm, the 5 is also 7.6mm thick. Is something else cosmetic going to change?

Astra.Xtreme
I barely get a full day ... do you even use it? :p Of course. Email, surfing the net, playing games, etc. It usually doesn't work too well when I'm on Sprint's useless data network instead of Wifi, but I still get really good battery life. StandingInAlley
It looks like Apple has once again skimped on the battery. +1 especially when the norm these days is 2000MaH but then Apple has been using a 4' screen with a less than 720p resolution screen with a dual core processor so maybe it doesn't require a 2000Mah battery especially when the phone will last from morning to evening :s

Nokia had alot of Golden phones; never see anyone with one of those, not even the Nokia 8800 or even the Arte Editions of that model (only in shops). It looked utter crap and this one doesn't get any better.
sanctified Veteran Posted August 16, 2013 Veteran Share Posted August 16, 2013 Worst design decision from Apple yet. However I would not be surprised if this results as a gold case made for someone in Dubai. Dick Montage 1 Share

I can easily get 3 days of casual use on my 2 year old 4S. hum...wut? Battery life better on the iPhone? Compared to what? I have a Nokia 1100 at work that it's battery lasts for 5 days; compared to other smartphones is equal or worse (source: all my clients who haves iPhones, varying from the 4 to 5). And how you easily get 3 days with casual use (i imagine email, websites browsing, sms, calls, etc.) is beyond my head. :o

Sure you can play games, surf the web, email on dumbphones, but it's not the same as a smartphone. In any case, yeah, it's hard to imagine any modern smartphone getting 3 days of usage on Email, surfing the net, playing games, I have a HTC One, remember quad core CPU, massive 4.7" screen compared to iPhone, and I can easily go on 2 days of battery with about 5 hours of on screen time. Having a closed ecosystem is a good thing in regards to battery life. With only one device to support, you better hope Apple gets the iPhone's battery life perfect. Again this weekend I didn't charge it at all from Friday until now when I put it on my dock. It had 6% battery left, but it's still alive. Being on Wifi occasionally helps, but iOS doesn't have the battery-killing clutter that Android does, so I don't know why it's so surprising that I'd get good life out of this thing. Dane
I'll be curious. My upgrade has awhile ago. So I'll either pick up the iPhone 6, or Samsung Galaxy 6/7 what's ever out there then.
